In a befitting finale, the “Year of Faith” that was inaugurated on 11 October 2012 by the former Pope Benedict XVI with his Apostolic Letter “Porta Fidei”, concluded on Sunday, 24 November 2013, the Feast of Christ the King. 11 October 2012, the first day of the Year of Faith, was the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council(Vatican II) and also the twentieth anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. During the Year of Faith, Catholics were asked to study and reflect on the documents of Vatican II and the catechism so that they may deepen their knowledge of the faith.

Wonders of Europe-Part 9: In the Shadow of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Glimpses of Florence
On 22 July 2013, the two important Italian tourist centers that were included in our ‘Wonders of Europe’ tour list were Pisa, famous for the so called ‘Leaning Tower of Pisa’ and Florence known as the city that gave birth to ‘Renaissance’ in Italy. We left Tulip Inn quite early in the morning as we had to traverse considerable distance between Padua and Pisa. We had to reach Pisa for lunch and later view the historical complex of the Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square) where the Leaning Tower of Pisa is situated and next proceed to Florence.[By Dr. Eugene DSouza]
Udupi: Solemn Thanksgiving Mass Marks the First Anniversary of the Udupi Diocese
The first anniversary of the creation of the Udupi Diocese and the installation of Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo as its first Bishop was celebrated with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass concelebrated by the Bishop along with nearly 50 priests, both diocesan and religious in the Milagres Cathedral on Tuesday, 15 October 2013 at 4 pm. The Cathedral was full to capacity with the faithful who had come from and around Kallianpur and Udupi to participate in the Thanksgiving Mass
