Having visited over 40 countries in the past, I had fixed my mind to visit this chain of islands in the Bay of Bengal. It’s an archipelago of 572 Islands, which is spread over about 780 km. from North to South in Bay of Bengal. The most important islands in the group are the North, Middle and South Andaman – popularly known as ‘Great Andaman’. However, incidentally, I was amazed to know that one priest, a native of Moodubelle has come on holidays from Brazil and wanted to know about him and the country where he has been serving as a missionary. Hence, I made it a point to fix an appointment with Fr.Edward Fernandes and have detailed interaction with him so as to know about his formative years, training as a priest and his missionary service in Brazil.

‘If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator. If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist. If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer. But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Saviour,’ Max Lucado. If you go around the city, you will see lots of homes getting ready for Christmas. You will see beautiful and elegant Christmas decorations prepping the neighborhood.
