Abu Dhabi: Konkans Dubai lifts KCO Throwball trophy in a thriller and Volley Ball bagged by Chilly W

Abu Dhabi, 01 Feb 2014:  In the electrifying final set, Konkans Dubai (Men) managed to beat Bunts Dubai team to lift the prestigious KCO Throwball Trophy.  Both teams fought neck to neck and the fans of both sides supporting and heart beating as every point gained was applauded with a huge applause.  In the final three set match, the first set won by Konkans Dubai (15-12) and second Bunts Dubai managed to snatch the set (15-13) however, in the final set they fought neck to neck each point gained by each time from point 1-1, till the last 14-12.  At this time Konkans had the edge but lost for an outside ball, however in the nail biting finish Konkans snatched the amazing, electrify match from the Bunts Dubai (15-14) watched by hundreds of enthusiastic spectators.   The jubilant Konkans players Dubai screamed with joy and danced to the drums joined by hundreds of fans the moment they won the match.

 

In the women’s match, Konkans Dubai gave a good fight but lost to Bunts Dubai in the first set 14-10.  However, they were close to win the second set but just lost for a point 14-15 and Bunts Dubai played well in the second set and won the match in a close thrilling match.

 

In the Volley Ball match, the Chilly Willy Dubai beat Star One in a thrilling close match.

 

The tournament began at 9:30am welcomed by KCO committee member Robert Vaz and invited all the teams to assemble on the presentation area.  The dynamic VivekSerrao of KCO took over the proceedings of the tournament by inviting the dignitaries of the day V.K. Mathu (Advisor, Board of Governors – ADIS), Ronald Pinto (MD Hysna Interiors) and his family, Walter D’Almeida (Regal Furnishings and Storage Systems), Sarvotham Shetty (President, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha), Michael D’Silva (KCO former President), DolphyVaz (Former President, KCO) and Valerian D’Almeida (President, KCO).  They were invited to the dais and felicitated with floral bouquets by Leena D’Souza (Gen. Secretary KCO).

 

Valerian D’Almedia, in his presidential address appreciated all the teams for attending the prestigious KCO Throwball Tournament and welcomed them and wished them good luck.

 

All the referees of the day were introduced to the teams by VivekSerrao namely:  Annet Menezes (Pinku), JacinthaRasquinha, Melwin D’Souza, Jaypal Raj, Deyand Volley ball referees Moideen and team.

 

Mr. V.K. Mathu thanked the organizers for inviting this wonderful Throwball-volleyball tournament and wished all the teams a successful day and to enjoy the game in a sportsman spirit.

 

Oath was taken prior to the beginning of the matches led by Captain of KCO team Prassana D’Souza and the prestigious KCO Throwball 2014 tournament was inaugurated by releasing the ballons by all the dignitaries of the day.  The match was inaugurated by Mr. V.K. Mathu, Mr. Sarvotham Shetty and Mr. Ronald Pinto.

Throwball (Men):  (1) Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, (2) KCO, Abu Dhabi, (3) Bunts, Dubai, (4) Konkans Dubai (5) Mogaveers, UAE , (6) Mangalore Konkans Dubai and (7)SMMKC, Sharjah

 

Volleyball: 1) Mogaveers, UAE, 2) Star One 3). St. Lawrence, 4) Shanan Stars and 5) Chilly Willy.

 

 

 

All the league matches were played in a true sportsman spirit and the following teams made it to the semi-finals:  Throwball (Women):  (1) Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha,(2) Mangalore Konkans Dubai, (3) Konkans Dubai (4) Bunts Dubai and the two teams reached the finals were:  Konkans Dubai Vs Bunts Dubai.

Throwball (Men):  (1) KCO Abu Dhabi,(2) Mangalore Konkans Dubai, (3) Konkans Dubai (4) Bunts Dubai and the two teams made to the finals were:  Konkans Dubai Vs Bunts Dubai.

Volleyball: 1) Star One 2). St. Lawrence, 3) Shanan Stars and 4) Chilly Willy.  The finalists were:  Star One Vs Chilly Willy.

The ladies Throwball and Mens Throwball matches were a treat to watch.  In the amazing and electrifying matches The Konkans Dubai and Bunts Dubai finalists in most of the tournaments of the season and attended by large number of fans and spectators is the one gave thrilling finishes in all the matches they encountered this season.  Konkans Dubai (Men) had won one match previously in Al Ain ISC tournament however, Bunts Dubai had snatched all other trophies and had remained the champions but this time Konkans Dubai reign supreme and snatched the prestigious KCO Throwball tourney 2014 in a very very thrilling, close nail biting finish.

The dynamic specialist commentator Vinod Shetty increased the tempo of the match and mercury of the spectators by his wonderful commentary and the match gain momentum and kept alive until the last point and the thrilling finishes of both ladies and gents Throwball and Volley Ball final matches.

In the prize distribution ceremony, Leena D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, sponsors of the tournament, referees, organizing committee, media personnel and all the teams who participated in the tournament.

The final winning team trophies of KCO Throwball and Volleyball 2014 were distributed to all the winning team members and the runners up and winners trophies were distributed by the dignitaries on dais in a glittering Prize Distribution Ceremony and season of Throwball tournaments came to an end with a thrilling victories by Bunts Dubai, Konkans Dubai and Chilly Willy Dubai.  The entire tournament was enjoyed by each and every sportsmen and sportswomen and spectators attended this wonderful KOC Throwball Tournament 2014.  The organizers did a wonderful job and all the matches and the entire day was fun-filled and all the matches were played in a sportsman spirit.  The entire tournament matches were coordinated by KCO members Valerian Fernandes and Vivek Serrao.
