Dubai, 7 Dec 2013:  In the final most exciting and electrifying matches organized by Bunts Dubai, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha won the Throwball Championship beating Konkans Dubai and in Men’s Throwball Bunts Dubai once again proved to be supreme in their third encounter with Konkans Dubai and lifted the Men’s Throwball Trophy.

In the most amazing Volleyball final match between Saifa Chilly Willy and Shannon Star watched by all the crowd assembled and with a super commentary by Vinod kept the spectators in on toes and finally Shanan Stars defeated Saifa Chilly Willy in one of the most exciting and electrifying match in a very closely contested match in the 3rd set i.e. 26-24.

In the morning Inauguration of the Bunts Throwball & Volley Ball Tournament was inaugurated by the sponsors releasing the balloons on the air. All the sponsors on dais namely Pravin Shetty, Shekar Shetty, Chetan Shetty, Sudhir Kumar Shetty, Sudhakar Alva, Premnath Shetty, Gunasheel Shetty,  Mohamed and Faisal.  Also there were honoured with flower bouquets.
A short March Fast was held carrying the flags of Bunts Dubai, India National Flag and U.A.E. National Flags by Team Captains, Managers, and volunteers participated.

Both the U.A.E. and Indian National anthems were sung and a short prayer was rendered by little children invoking God’s Blessings on the tournament.  Satish Shetty welcomed the players, sponsors and audience.  He said this is the 4th Throwball tourney by Bunts since the year 2007 earlier matches were held in 2007, 2009 and 2011.

All the outstanding Throwball outstanding players who played since the beginning of the thournaments were honoured by Bunts Dubai namely Ms. Surya G. Rao (Mogaveera), Annet Menzes (KCO).  Mr. Ganesh Rai on of the community leader read the citations of all.  Mr., Sarvotham Shetty and his wife Ms. Usha Shetty were also honoured for their dedication to the tournament since its inception 22 years ago.  They were all honoured with Traditional Shawls, Fruit Baskets, Flower Bouquets and Citations.
Prior to the beginning of the matches Oath was read, led by Bunts Throwball captain.

The following Teams participated in the whole day tournament:

Ladies Throwball Teams: Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, K C O - Abu Dhabi, Bunts Dubai, Mogaveers UAE, Konkans Dubai, SMMKC Sharjah, Mangalore Konkans, Dubai,  Chilly Willy and Kanarites Dubai.

Throwball Gents Teams:
 SMMKC Sharjah, K C O - Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha Bunts Dubai , Mogaveers UAE, Konkans Dubai, Mangalore Konkans, Chilly Willy and Kanarites, Dubai

Volley ball Teams:
Shanan Stars, Saifa Chilly Willy, St. Lawrence Karwar, Ace Spikers,  Seamen Friends, Udupi Friends, Karawal Milan and Star One Tech.

Sumptuous lunch was arranged by Arab Udupi Restaurant.

After the entire closely contested league matches the following teams made it to the semi finals:
 Konkans Dubai Kanarites, Bunts Dubai and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha (Ladies)
Mens: Mogaveers, konaks Dubai, Bunts Dubai and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha

Volley Ball Teams:  Shanan Star Vs Star One
Saifa Chilly Willy and Ace Spikers

The following teams made to the finals:  Konkans Dubai Vs – Auh Karnataka Sangha (Ladies)
Bunts Dubai – Konkans Dubai (Men)
Volley Ball Shaifa chilli Wily vs Shannon Stars

Prior to closing ceremony and Prize Distribution the raffle draw was held.  All the sponsors were felicitated. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Shashi Shetty.

 

 

 

An Exhibition Match was held to support the new comers and they were felicitated and also feliciated were all the Referees, linesmen and media representatives.

All the outstanding players of the tournament in each category were honoured.

In Volleyball :  Best Striker Gopala Shannon Stars), Best setter Sarfrash Qazi (Saifa Chilly Willy), All Rounder Leslie D’Souza (Shannon Star).

Mens Throwball;  Best striker – Flavan (konkans Dubai), Defender – Shiva Shetty (Bunts), All Rounder:  Deepak Shetty (Bunts Dubai)

Ladies Throwball: Anita Lobo (Konkans Dubai), Defender:  Sheela Shetty and all Rounder:  Dr. Arati Rai

All the winners of the tournament were called upon the stag and trophies were distributed:

Volley Ball: Runner up: Saifa Chilly Willy, Winners:  Shannon Star,

Mens Throwball Runners up trophies/Winners trophies –Runners:  Konkans Dubai, Winners Bunts Dubai

Ladies Throwball Runners Konkans Dubai, Winners Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha were distributed.
