Al Ain: Konkans Dubai Men and Bunts Dubai Ladies win maiden ISC Al Ain Tourney

Al Ain/UAE, 05 Jan 2014: Konkans Dubai men throw ball team proved supreme by defeating Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha Dubai and won the Al Ain ISC Throw ball Tourney Trophy. However, Bunts Dubai ladies team defeated Konkans Dubai in a very closely-contested match in their second encounter and lifted the Women’s Throwball Trophy and Konkans Dubai regained runner’s trophy for the successive third time in this season.

 

Earlier to inauguration of the tournament, Savitha - tournament organizer urged all teams to assemble in front of the stage and welcomed all participants.

 

The tournament formally inaugurated by Jimmy – ISC honorary general secretary along with vice president Issa, sports secretary Jaber, all other managing Committee members and women forum chairperson Beti.

 

Both the UAE and Indian National anthems were sung with due honor.

 

Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Bunts Dubai, Mogaveers UAE, Konkans Dubai participated in ladies throw ball tournament.

 

Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha Bunts Dubai, Mogaveers UAE, Konkans Dubai, Mangalore Konkans and We One Al Ain participated in throw ball gents tournament.

 

The semifinals were held between Konkans Dubai vs Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Bunts Dubai vs. Mogaveers UAE (ladies).

 

The semi finals were held between Konkans Dubai vs Bunts Dubai and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha vs Mangalore Konkans (men’s).

 

 

The league matches was treat to watch and all the teams fought for the top spot and to enter the finals.  In a closely contested and vigorously played matches only the following teams could make to the finals:  Konkans Dubai Vs Bunts Dubai (Ladies) and Bunts Dubai vs Konkans Dubai (Gents) and finally Konkani Dubai (ladies) went down fighting to Bunts Dubai.  However, Konkans Dubai (men’s) beat Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha comfortably.

 

During prize distribution referees of the tourney Satish Shetty, Melvyn D’Souza, Dancy Menezes and Shiva Shetty were honoured.

 

Best striker – Melwyn D’Souza (Konkans Dubai), Defender – Ritesh (Abu Dhabi KS), All Rounder:  Allan (Konkans Dubai) in men’s throw ball were honored on the occasion.

 

All Rounder - Anita Lobo (Konkans Dubai), Defender - Marina Menezes (Konkans Dubai) and Best Striker - Shashi Shetty (Bunts Dubai) in ladies throw ball were also honored.

 

The trophies were distributed to men’s throw ball runners up:  Abu Dhabi KS, Winner -Konkans Dubai and ladies throw ball runners up: Konkans Dubai, winner Bunts Dubai.
