Mangaluru, 10 Apr 2020: As the closing date of Covid-19 nationwide lockdown approaching, law enforcement agencies and district administration has been trying their best to maintain normalcy as much as possible with 5-hours relaxation daily, in order to enable citi-zens to stock of replenishing daily necessities. The lockdown is likely to end on 11.59pm on April 14 and left to the discretion of central/state administration to extend the lockdown.
Meanwhile, over 6 decades old Central Market located in heart of town has ceased to function owing to Covid-10 total lockdown as the state administration ordered to shift to unused APMC yard at Baikampady with assurances of providing basic amenities there.
Further, the municipal complex that was built by civic body at Urva Market, here is ready to be occupied by the bonafied stall owners who are still operating from temporary facilities erected nearby without clear instructions from the municipal authorities. The new market complex would have been a boon for customers from far and near as the authorities had shut down congested Central Market for fear of community transmission of Covid-19.
