Moodubelle: “ Say No to Plastic” awareness programme about the hazards of plastic use organized

Moodubelle, 23 Oct 2012: A joint awareness programme about the hazards of the use of plastic in daily life was organized by the NSSCamp of St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle, Belle Grama Panchayat, C.A. Bank, Lions Club, Navodaya Self-help groups, Jana Jagruti Samithi, Belle Charitable Trust and ICYM on Tuesday, October 2012 from 9 am to 11.30 am in Moodubelle township.

 

The awareness programme was inaugurated by Devdas Hebbar, former president of Udupi Taluk Panchayat at 9.30 am near the bus stand. Speaking at the Inaugural function, Devdas Hebbar pointed out the need to make the  people aware of the hazards of the use of plastic as it causes damage to human health, animals and environment.

 

The NSS volunteers and other participants in the awareness programme assembled in front of the main entrance of the church and took out rally with banners and placards denouncing the use of plastic. The procession passed through the main road. On the way as the procession proceeded the volunteers picked up plastic as well as other waste that lay by the side of the roads and in front of the shops. After proceeding up to the Post Office, the volunteers returned and headed towards the Panchayat  office building and disposed off the Plastic waste thus collected during the rally.

 

 

The valedictory function was presided over by Gerald Fernandes. The chief speaker during the valedictory function was Dr. Krishna Prasad, Medial Officer of the Primary health center. He traced the origin and growth of the use of  plastic and also analyzed the disaster that plastic has brought to the health of people, animals and environment. He appreciated the efforts of the voluntary groups in spreading the awareness among the people about the hazards of the use of plastic.

 

Gerald Fernandes in his presidential message stressed upon the need to give up the use of plastic and narrated Incidents in which he realized how important it is to renounce the use of plastic.

 

Maxim D’Sa welcomed the gathering and read out the resolution denouncing the use of plastic. Larsen Edward D’Souza, NSS Programme  Officer  and  in charge of the special NSS Camp of St. Lawrence PU College at Edmeru proposed the vote of thanks.Charles Quadros compeered the programme.

These jatha only for eye wash.this is political stunt .Now BJP made worst in karnataka .Now they want to re-built .There fore they are now making jatha .No roads are good for walkable .No cleanliness in this small town .Nobody looking at these .In panchayat not helping to poor people. wants vote wants chair!!
