Mumbai, 10 April 2010: The new managing committee of Shri Durga Parameshwari Yakshagana Mitra Mandali, Sakinaka, Mumbai was constituted on Sunday, 4th April 2010 during the 44th Annual General Body Meeting held in Shri Durga Parameshwari Temple presided over by Sudhakar G. Poojary, President of the Yakshagana Mitra Mandali. The Secretary of the Mandali, Nityaprakash N. Shetty welcomed the gathering. Ramesh Kanajar presented the annual report. The new managing committee was reconstituted during the Annual General Body Meeting.
Once again Sudhakar G. Poojary and Chandrahasa Shetty Ujire were re-elected unanimously as President and Treasurer respectively. Nityanandana N. Shetty was elected as the new Executive President, senior artist K.K. Devadiga as Vice President, Ramesh Suvarna Kanajar as Honorary Secretary, Sadananada Nayak as Joint Secretary, Prasad Shetty as Joint Treasurer, Rajesh Moily and Dayananda Malla as Karya Nirvahakas.
The Temple Pooja Samiti was also reconstituted with P. Mohan Gujaran and Balachandra R. Shetty continuing as President and Secretary respectively. The new office bearers of the Temple Pooja Samiti are: Smt. Rupa R. Shetty as Vice President, Smt. Hema L. Kotian as Joint Secretary, Suresh Shetty malla as Treasurer and Prashant Poojary as Joint Treasurer.
In his presidential address, Sudhakar G. Poojary appreciated the united efforts of the Shri Durga Parameshwari Yakshagana Mitra Mandali, Sakinaka, Mumbai and made an appeal to the people to encourage and support the Yakshagana Folk art, one of the most revered heritage of the Tulunadu.
Senior artists, Sadananda Shetty,Jari Mari, Sadananda Nayak and K.K. Devadiga also expressed their views during the meeting.
Shri Durga Parameshwari Yakshagana Mitra Mandali, Sakinaka, Mumbai which has just completed 44th anniversary has been quite active in presenting Yakshagana folk plays in different parts of Mumbai and other regions as well with the help of dedicated and expert artists. Besides performing Yakshagana plays, the Mandali has been providing artists in traditional costumes and make ups to various processions reflecting the culture and traditions of the Tulu people. On 21st April 2010 Shri Durga Parameshwari Yakshagana Mitra Mandali will present ‘Kod-dabbu Baraga’ prasanga. At the end of the meeting, Ramesh Suvarna Kanajar proposed the vote of thanks.
