Moodubelle, 02 September 2011: It is heartening to know that besides the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava, the festival Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated with great devotion and traditional fervor by certain tradition conscious conservative families in Moodubelle. The tradition of bringing Ganesh idol, installing it on decorated pedestal, rangoli decorations, preparations of varieties of sweets and eatables on ‘Chauthi’ has been going on since many years which is being continued by the successive generations.
Late Narasimha Nayak, grand father of Pundalika Nayak had installed the Ganesh idol for the first time 62 years ago. Thereafter the custom was carried forth by late Subbanna Nayak, father of Pundalika and presently his sons including Pundalika have been continuing the tradition.
Late Baburaya Kamath had started the tradition of installing Ganesh idol in his home 55 years ago which is being carried forward by his children.
Late Vitthaldas Kini had started celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi at his home 34 years ago that is being continued by his son Vasudeva Kini.
