Commuters stage rail roko at Udupi railway station

Udupi, 16 February 2011: The railway commuters under the banner of Railway Yathri Sangha held a rail roko at the Udupi railway station here on Tuesday demanding extension of yashwanthar-Mangalore to Karwar immediately. The protesters stopped the Ernalukam train for over one hour. The train came to Udupi station at 9 am, but protesters stood in front of it in protest and did not allow the train to move.
Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, Jilla Panchayath President Katpadi Shankar Poojari, Former MLA U. R. Sabhapathi, Railway Yathri Sangha President R. L. Dayas and others led the protest. On behalf of the Railway Department Regional Incharge Dilip Bhat and Station Master Nagaraj Shetty received the apeal.
