MSEZ PDF stir enters 20th day in M’lore

- Meeting of the people’s representatives postponed to March 25
Mangalore, 21 March 2011: The youth from MSEZ Project Displaced Families (PDF) who are on an indefinite relay hunger strike for the last 20 days, have decided to chalk out their decision on the future course of action, on March 25.
Speaking to the protest Co-ordinator Narayan said the youth who have undergone training in Karnataka Polytechnic College (KPT) have not been recruited by the MRPL or ONGC as per the earlier assurances. The authorities were supposed to hold a meeting with the officials and people’s representatives on Monday.
But as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, who was then the MSEZ Managing Director I S N Prasad was not available, the meeting has been postponed to March 25.
“The Deputy Commissioner informed us that the meeting will be held in the DC’s office on March 25 in the presence of I S N Prasad, Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav, District-in-charge Minister Krishna Palemar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Abhayachandra Jain and MSEZ COO A G Pai. We will decide on the future course of action only after the meeting. If our demands are met it is well and good or else we would find our own ways to solve the issue,” said Narayan on be half of the protestors.
