Mangalore: ICYM Holds Diaference-2012

Mangalore, 24 Jan 2012: Diaference-2012 was held at Milagres College Grounds Mangalore on 22nd January 2012. It started with inaugural function presided over by Msgr. Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese. The inaugurator of the program was Rev. Fr. Mari Joseph, Director of Karnataka Regional Youth Commission.

 

The chief Guests of the program were Rt.Rev.Dr.Henry Dsouza, Bishop of Bellary and Chairman of Karnataka Regional Youth Commission and Mr. Allwyn Rosario, Vice President of Milagres Parish. The inauguration was held in a special way by
crushing the paddy (baath kandche) signifying the unity of the youth striving for a transformative society. The dignitaries on the dais were accompanied by Rev. Fr Anil Dsouza, Director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Sr. Michelle B.S, Lady Animator of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Mr. Mishal Fernandes, President ICYM Mangalore Diocese and Mr. Hilson Dsouza, Secretary ICYM Mangalore Diocese.

 

Mr. Mishal Fernandes welcomed the gathering and vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Hilson Dsouza. Mr. Joel Concessao and Ms. Rubina Pinto from Milagres compeered the program.

 

After the inaugural program there was a talk given by Prof. Vincent Alva on “United Youth for a Transformative Society”. Then there was gospel band from the members of Jesus Youth. The morning session concluded With the Holy Mass for which Rt. Rev .Dr. Henry Dsouza was the main celebrant and co celebrated by Fr. Sunil Kumar Dsouza, Director ICYM Episcopal City Varado who also gave the homily, Fr.Anil Dsouza and Fr. Mari Joseph.

 

 

 

The afternoon session began with some cultural programs given by the youth of Mudipu, Kulshekar, Jeppu parishes as well as from the students of Western Institute Of Technology. Then concluding ceremony of the program was held which was presided by Rev.Fr.Walter Dmello, Parish Priest Milagres Church Mangalore. The chief guests were Dr. Edward Nazreth ,Professor in Orthopaedics dept, Fr. Mullers College Hospital and Mrs. Irene Rebello, Community Development Officer, District Development Wing, Mangalore.

 

Mr.Mishal welcomed the dignitaries and Mr. Hilson proposed the vote of thanks. Mr.David Noronha Allipady and Ms. Nisha Sequiera Ashoknagar compeered the programs of the afternoon session. Rabbit Draw, Pepsi Draw  and Contribution Coupon Draw organized by Central Council of ICYM, Mangalore Diocese were held.

 

The program was concluded by a performance ‘Rosache Voji’ from the Thannirbavi Youth which depicted the tradition and culture of Konkani Catholics and finally the program ended with a Baila.
