LANCO – UPCL held screening camp for disabled persons

Mulky,29 August 2011: Lanco foundation, Udupi Power Corporation Ltd in association with Mulki LIONS Club, Lioness Club & LEO Club organized screening camp at LIONS Soudha at Mulki for physically challenged persons of Mulki & surrounding villages. Mulki - Moodabidri MLA Mr K Abhayachandra Jain has inaugurated the camp. 

 
In the inaugural speech, Mr Abhayachandra Jain told that Mulki Lions Club is very actively involved in the social welfare of the people by conducting many such programs and though LANCO UPCL is a private Company, they are involved in the welfare of the society and we should appreciate the efforts of LANCO in identifying & providing the necessary appliances like tricycle, calipers etc to needy physically challenged persons at total free of cost.

 


The Chief Guest Mr Dr Ln Kedage Aravinda Rao addressed the gathering that Lions Club, Mulki is working on principles of “Think Globally & Act Locally” and such a program helps needy section of the society and appreciated all the members of the Lions Club. He also praised that LANCO UPCL is doing wonderful social service in association with Lions Club and the physically challenged people should make use of the benefits extended by LANCO.


Another Guest Mr Sudarshan Prasad, Senior Project Manager – UPCL addressed the gathering that LANCO – UPCL has set up 2 x 600 MW Thermal Power Project at Yelluru Village of Udupi District and started generating Electricity. As a part of CSR activity, UPCL has established artificial limb fitting centre at Udupi during the year 2006 itself and it is giving free tricycles, calipers, artificial limbs etc since the last 5 years to the physically challenged people.  Lanco Foundation is also has mobile health Units, which gives free medicines / treatment in rural areas to the needy people. He also has told that scholarships to the meritorious students’ worth of 8 lakhs have been distributed last week and that for professional courses will be distributed very soon.
Around 70 beneficiaries from Mulki & surrounding 10 villages have attended the screening camp. LANCO foundation will distribute the suitable appliances to all this beneficiaries.


Ln President Mr Harish Puthran has welcomed all the guests and gathering. Mr Udaya Amin rendered vote of thanks.
Mr S Mukkunden, Senior Manager Administration and LANCO Foundation Project Managers Mr Sudheer AK, Arun Kamath, Aravind Kant & others were also present during the screening camp.
