Udupi, 04 June 2011: Debate on the rules of City Administration was held at Udupi Consumer Vedike premises, which was jointly organized by District Consumer Vedike, Udupi Municipality and Bangalore Civic Society. During the lecture presented by Kathyayini Chamaraj from Bangalore Civic Society, she said that the participation of citizens in the city administration, is to be increased. In the local city administration, which is performing using the citizens money, the citizens should participate and decide on the priorities of the formation of the projects. For this a Vedike by decree is to be formed, she said.
Even though such provision to make decisions on the project formation in the wards and areas are effectively available for every city of the Karnataka state, the projects are implemented without taking the opinions of the citizens. This action is to be condemned and also everyone has to insist that the process needs to be revoked, said Kathyayini.
The program was presided over by the Municipality President Kiran Kumar. Consumer Vedike President Damodar Aythal was also present on the dias.

The Municipali authorities are not functioning in a fair manner. bailur ward has not been given due attention because one Independent councillor Nithyananda Volakadu is representing the Ward. Neither the water supply not cleaning or collecting garbage at the payment by the inmats of the ward is done regularly properly or the road patch work at the entrance is being patched up. Unles One complaints by telephone nothing is being done , in a way discrimination. it is lelarnt that the the Present president when he was a councillor had threatened htis councillor in a meeting and thereafter the councillor is not attending meetings. party politics is the cause. The the ruling party must know that once the election is over there must not be any partisan approach to civic amenities and services. It is better the ruling councillors get this known before protest rally is held to expose this partisan approach. These aspects have been brought to the attention of the Commissioner on two occasions. |
