Moodubelle: St. Lawrence P. U. College “Consumers Club” celebrated World Consumers Day

Moodubelle, 16 March 2011: The “Grahakara Club” (Consumers Club) of St. Lawrence Pre University College, Moodubelle, celebrated World Consumers Day on Tuesday 15th March 2011. The program began in the afternoon at 02.00 pm in the College Hall.

 

Charls Quadras - President of C/A Bank (Society Bank) Moodubelle was the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira - Principal of St. Lawrence Pre University College, Moodubelle, presided over the program. Herald D’souza – Director of Grahakara Club and Manjunath Shenoy – President of Grahakara Club were also present on the dais.

 

Charls Quadras in his speech said that whenever we buy any product we must know the proper information about it. Medicines and food items while we buy we must check the expiry date of them. For every purchase we must obtain receipt or bill and should preserve that bill. One must be careful with the vendors who sell products by roaming house to house. In overall, the consumers need to use their common sense while making their purchases.

 

 

Rev.Fr.Paul Sequeira in his presidential address said that the students should study well and become good citizens. While making the purchases it is the right of the consumers to verify the weight of the product. It is also the responsibility of the consumers to verify whether the weight, quality and price of the products are correct or not. In case of any discrepancies found, then it may be reported with consumers forum.
 

 

Shashidar Acharya welcomed the guests and the gathering. Flavia Mathias compeered the program. Jesvita Mathias proposed vote of the thanks. Skits performed by the students were informative and entertained everyone. All the gathered found the program interesting and useful.

Providing awareness at the young age will make them better citizens. Really appreciate the Principal and the school management for encouraging such programs.
