Beltangady, 14 Aug 2014: The brethrens of Karnataka who have exhibited their civic sense by collaborating with rural cleanliness programme since several years, need to be actively participate in Nirmal Karnataka campaign, urged Dr D Veerendra Heggade.

Dr Heggade in his sixty-eighth Independence message lauded the progress of our country despite several difficulties in post Independence era.  Meanwhile, its an irony that in spite of the concerted efforts of both union and state governments, not everyone benefited of the fruits of developments.  However, as a price for developments, lack of cleanliness can be seen all over, Dr Heggade expressed deep concern.

Sri Kshetra Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) that has been striving for economic and social empowerment of rural masses, contributed significantly through its variety of programmes for self sufficiency, steady progress in living standards.  Meanwhile, SKDRDP has embarked on cleanliness drive on Independence Day this year too, as it believes the the day should not be limited to mere celebration.

SKDRDP motivated over 30 lac rural families in forming over 3 lac self-help-groups (SHGs).  If all the members of 3 lac SHGs are determined, they are capable of keeping their villages clean.

The radical reforms in farming sector are the need of hour, by studying the multitude of peasants’ issues.  The innovation in farming from seedlings to harvesting has to reach the door step of peasants.  The quality seeds, scientific farming, value added and marketing strategies had to be borne with.  The farming department has to help the peasants with timely advices on various stages of farming and also innovate on new breeds that is ideal to changed environmental conditions, opined Dr Heggade.

If the earning is one facet of life, there lies its effective use on the other hand.  At this backdrop, Jnana Vikas programmes are laying emphasis on women empowerment by drastically improving their socio-economic status.
The media has done remarkable job in this regard.

SKDRDP has embarked on rural cleanliness drive in all villages on Friday August 15, to commemorate sixty-eighth Independence Day, in order to create mass awareness to ignite civic sense.

The enlightened brethrens partake in environmental conservation and rural cleanliness drive; also maintain the households clean at all times.  Let cleanliness is the goal of everyone.

Independence Day greetings to all.

Dr D Veerendra Heggade, chairman of SKDRDP
