Mangalore, 15 December 2010: The elderly and the disabled were all smiles at Cheshire Home, Mangalore with Santa, X’mas tree, tinsel balls, bells, crib, carols and all of the X’mas glitter painting a picture perfect Christmas on Tuesday.
Though Christmas is fast approaching, the elderly at Cheshire home lived the Christmas merry and joy a week before and rejoiced the festival completely.
Addressing the gathering, Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner K N Vijayprakash said: “We are born in a society and we take a lot from the society and hence it is our duty to return back our share to the society,” He said that Christmas is a festival of hope and grace.
“We should spread the message of trust, love, hope and peace with our neighbours,” said Valencia Parish Priest Fr Bonaventure Nazareth.
Christmas is a festival of sharing and caring, especially towards those who are despised from the society, said Ladies Social Service League President Octavia Albuquerque.
The gala included carol singing, gifts for the Cheshire inmates, games and a Santa Claus with his little elves spreading cheer by distributing sweets and gifts.
