17 Jun 2012: Summer means blazing sun, sweat, sunburns, heatstroke and what not! But the season also means summer vacation, holiday with family and lots and lots of mangoes.

Most importantly, the option of losing weight easily! That shouldn’t puzzle you for there are reasons to substantiate it. Here are a few...

Sun sets in early: Which means no waking up late. This is not the season to cuddle into a quilt. Even as the light creeps in between the window curtains, the last thing you want to do is stay on the bed. You simply want to get out of the bed and take a walk literally! Mornings are no longer chilly and thus a perfect time to do your morning jog and get out of your slumber state. This ensures your body gets a good workout and you stay active throughout the day.

Thirst for water: Water is the best beverage and you need gallons of water to quench your thirst. Summer means more water not just to keep your body cool, but also to avoid dehydration. The benefits of hydro therapy are well known — clear complexion, slim body and a cleansed body! Water helps maintain body weight and keep the skin healthy by flushing out toxins from the body.

Heat kills hunger: Surprisingly for a person like you who boasts of a great appetite, you don’t have the urge to eat at all! Not to worry as it’s got nothing to do with your intestine. The reason is heat. hence, for a change, this is your chance to eat fresh vegetable salads and fruits. This will ensure you lose weight effortlessly!

This is the best time of the year to lose weight. Forget crash diets and forceful exercises that seem endlessly tedious. Summer is the time you can willingly eat salads and not complain about morning walks.

Tender coconut, soups and barley: Barley water helps remove toxins from the body and keeps the body cool. Substitute aerated drink with tender coconut water for some soothing effect in the scorching heat. Soups are great appetizers that sometimes act as filler too. You could perhaps have yummy soup instead of spicy food that induces heat.
