Congratulations to the newly elected members!! It is a well organized programme with positive mind and friendly atmosphere without showing any political party affiliations. Such programmes are extremely healthy that exhibits unity among the people of various faith and political party beliefs. Yes, lots of developments needed and deserved...let us have faith in them and we too should support them since wonders can happen with mutual support and interaction... Well it is easy to criticize in the air...it takes a lot for constructive criticism and action. Let's take example of MESCOM protest regarding cash payments which is the right criticism and action... Someone should find a new way of felicitation without using flowers, fruits and garlands...probably according to some, new way is call and shout at the elected reps...for winning the elections....? who elected them and for what purpose? we or outsiders ??

who organised this function? I dont think "the sarvajanik". From where the money came for the rented auditorium. Its the public money. If the function would have organised in panchayat vatara how good it could have been.

At last the public of Belle have got up from the slumber. They had a easy going attitudee. The roads works are half way because of this. Frequent power cuts and other problems because the public are not alive to the problems. This one is best and must be for all irregularities, against the officials. Mr Shanker is known for corruptions. Do not believe him. If he is not able to properly function let him get lost. Mescom at Belle is very inefficient. Next come telephone department and there after the Revenue.
I would call upon the public to stage a protest against the Udupi Tahsildar because of his thuglak policies. He frequently changes rules relating to Santhathi Nakshe and RTC matters. The Officials, I was told, demand Rs 500 minimum to issue survival of family memebrs certificate, for change of RTc and for RTC again so much. This Tahisldar has come to loot the people. His clerk was caught by the LOKAYUKTA when demanding Rs 2000 for land conversion, for moving the papers and the poor chap was in police custody for about 10 days?
All because of the Officer who extract money. New story is that every living member of the family must be present before the VA for the certificate.

Can anyone tell us when it will finish giveing the flowers and fruits,Did any job done these guys since elected,You all people are in same boat,Instead of asking them why the Dam, moodubelle road and pamboor kabyadi road work is not done,Until the next elections dates announce we are giveing them Friuts ,garland and party,Padubelle elected member is bussy with his own business how to get more money,

Good to see the people making protest for better service by Mescom in Moodubelle. Something needs to be done also for the frequent power cuts!

John Alva, Udupi
21/03/2011 10:10:11

Paying the electricity bills has been a nightmare. Working people in Udupi find it very difficult to pay bills as there will be long queue both in the morning and evening. It is high time that Mescom improve the bill payment system.

Nelson, Udupi, Bangalore
21/03/2011 09:44:52

Good job by consumers. Congratulations and keep it up. Government employees deserve this because they have no value for consumers time wasted in bee line. What a waste of productive time that too for paying cash? It is time MESCOM installs payment machines so that people can do payment at their will even in the night since AEE already crying for shortage of men. Our misnisters and MLAs should be made to stay in the line so that they will understand common man difficulty. But they are busy making big money on deals.

Dear Philip, thank for your informative article. Waiting to read the further episods .I wnated to know what are the problems it cteated for environmental and health hazards, how it can be controlled. Whether the authorities conducted proper feasibility study keeping in mind the strict norms and what are the lapses. Is this plant is really going to benefit the people of the distct and what next ??. You have explained in such a simple language that anybody can understand the technical aspects in very easy manner. Thank you bellevision for such articles and keep publishing similar articles in future to creat awareness among the people.

I felt as if I am reading physics text book preparing for exam, this time it is with interest. Philip has explained the technical aspects in a very simple language. Every student should read this with enthusiasm. I am glad to read such articles in BV. Answer to many of our doubts and hunger for more knowledge on power plant. Our power plant has become poor plant due to neligence, not following the norms and reduced to unfit plant for the neighbours. If they run it the way it should be, power plant will be a blessing rather than curse!!

Victor DSouza, Moodubelle / Doha
20/03/2011 15:12:19

Now the Power Plant project in Udupi by UPCL is like a illegitimate child, no politician wants to take the blame, they all only blame each other. I think people of Udupi District can agree for the functioning of UPCL only if the company completely comply to the Health Safety and Environmental guidelines and of course supply sufficient power to the District with strict monitoring.

Forgive me for jumping to conclusions: it seems everything beautiful, majestic, architecturally marvelous, academically brilliant and structurally aesthetic was built during the colonial era. All those pictures in the latter half of the narrative reinforce that conclusion: we have manufactured poverty, and proliferated the monuments that celebrates poverty..Any proud Kolkatan, please stand up and correct my impression with achievements and progress of the past 64 years..please!

CAUTION:- Now a days, Why most of the SCAMS, CORRUPTION and LOOTERS are exposed from South India? Is India s Corrupt Manufacturing Factory located there? If Defence has to keep eyes on Jammu-Kashmir, the Investigating Agencies must keep eyes on Bangalore-Chennai.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Victor for a beautiful article on Hill Top. Though I was hesitant initially to publish this article, now I feel it is worthwhile looking at the appreciations for this piece of work. I thank all those who appreciated and expressed delight on this job. It certainly motivates me to go for further creativity and adventure. It is extremely satisfying to note that the landscaping has motivated many in our hometown and few are already seeking my advice for landscaping their home front and back yard. We already have several houses in our home town with beautiful landscaping and gardens. All it takes is imagination, hard work to put the ideas into practice, not to forget the need of couple of hours a week to maintain the same. With great love and gratitude for the support I received, sincerely - Ronald Sabi

Dear Saby,

Accidentally learnt about your venture in Kattingeri Moodubelle, perhaps I should visit Bellevision more often from now.

The entire earth is our mother and we must love her wholesomely. You have demonstrated your love to your mother beyond one s imagination and I can only wish your dream come true and may Almighty God bless Kattingeri so that its fallout may extend to her daughter Kanajar too. Beware of destructive critics, so called conservationists, short-term emotional players, religious hypocrites and subotageurs, who may not tolerate such visionary creativity and innovation, which can one day bring economic prosperity to the land. Wish you all the very best in your endeavors and wish to see one day Saby as the Father of Modern Moodubelle. Kind regards Lawrence Saldanha Kanajar

This is manageable. What about the drain passing the M.G.Road, next to T.M.A.Pai Convention Centre. You table the odds. One, is that there is an International Convention Centre and by the side a rain water canal transporting the human waste althroughout the year. Yet this is the most advanced residential area, wherein there are more than 1000 houses, apartments etc. The Mangalore City Corporation is just a call away. This ward belongs to the Deputy Mayor. OH WHAT A PITY.

The international community views us, Indians, generally as a nation of filthy people with a very low sense of public hygiene. Our response to this view often springs from our hurt national pride. We retort that our civilization is more than 5000 years old and do not need lessons. Amongst us, the tendency is to blame everything on politicians and their lack of political will. What does it mean? Does Palemar or Mr. XYZ benefit from filthy fish, meat or vegetable markets? Certainly, no. The problem is deeper than lack of political will. What is it? Would a local correspondent meet the sweepers employed by the municipality, their supervisors, the officers and even DC for some answers?
