I applied for ration card thro on line and I got acknowledgement slip. unfortunately I could not traceout my acknowledgement no and date. I have not received any sms also from any authorities. kindly help me out how to get ration card also to whom I should approach.

I think we should start a styagraha on this issue. I had applied for ration card i even got message to go nearest internet centre i had given my photo too. But now the food office is making us to roam every now and then. And its pity to say that common man if want to have a LPG connection this much long procedure has to be followed. But i am surprised gas cylinders are sold at high rates in shops. How are they getting these connections.

This is merely a election gimmick by the ruling party concerned and just look at the people in the photographs, they are all the same except for few heads. On enquiring at one site, they told by the 30th of December the road would be constructed. It is so amazing the way these guys fool the people as the Legislative elections are just round the corner, the drama is begun... a lot to go for another 30 days as there after as per the directives of election commission they cannot put up such shows to fool the common people. I am neither a resident nor a voter. I am only an armchair and silent observer of coastal politics. I watched JR\ s induction ceremony into Congress Party. I watched the ruckus blamed on Ivan and his supporters. I have watched him speak to media explaining his decision to plunge into politics. But, I have doubts on his elect-ability. There is nothing new about promise to remove infrastructural bottlenecks and create jobs. Every candidate and party promises that. A promising candidate has to come out with specific policy formulations, take positions on the polarizing issues and demonstrate ability build rainbow coalitions across ideological divides. To demonstrate his stand against Hindu communal-ism, he joined Congress. What is his stance on minority communal-ism? What about job quota of reservations for education, jobs and so forth? What about castes and class identities? What about land acquisition for private industrial and public projects? Use, notification and conversion of settled agricultural land? What about ecology and environment preservation versus industrialization as enabler for job creation of local youth? What about sons of soil versus cheaper outsiders?..

I am stumped by the flood of comments to this news report. Ration card is a depressing reminder of those days when we did have enough to eat. Levy was forced on farmers, at laughably low prices, and rationed in cities. Other articles, sugar, kerosene and fertilizers were added to ration list. Our governments must weed ration cards out and focus on Unique Identity (Aadhar)system. Multiple IDs are a waste.
