Grishma Shetty - Goal Keeper of Under 19 Girls’ Indian Football Team

Udupi, 15 June 2010: Grishma, the young girl, originally hailing from coastal Karnataka’s Padubidri in Udupi District and born in Bunt’s family representing Maharashtra has been selected as the Goal Keeper of Under 19, Indian Girls Football team to play in the international tournament.
Grishma Shetty, 18 years of age is studying in 12th standard in St. Andrew’a College, Bandra in Mumbai. She will be participating as the Goal Keeper in Under 19 World Youth Cup (Gothia Cup-2010) that will be held in Sweden and Denmark between 12 and 23 July 2010.
Grishma Shetty has proved her ability as an excellent football player and even captained the Maharashtra Under-17 and Under-19 girls’ teams at the district and national levels. She had made a mark as a diligent football player and had found a place in the Maharashtra Girls’ Football team when she was just under 16 years.
In the interstate football tournament that was held at Ahmadabad, Grishma had performed so well as a goal keeper that on the basis of her performance in this tournament, she was selected to be the part of the Under-19 Girls’ Football Team as the goal keeper for the forthcoming Under 19 World Youth Cup 2010 that will be played in Sweden and Denmark in the month of July 2010.
Grishma had an interest in sports right from her childhood. While in school, Grishma used to take part in various sporting and athletics events in which she often secured gold or silver medals. She has been also a very good player of Basketball and Hockey.
Besides sports, Grishma has been taking a keen interest in cultural activities and painting. She is a proficient Bharata Natyam dancer. She is also a good in Western dance. Her skill in painting can be understood by the fact that that in the All India Painting Competition, Grishma had secured second prize for her painting.
Grishma Shetty comes from an excellent and talented Bunt family. Grishma’s father, Harish Shetty is from Moodugundladi House of Padubidri and mother, Latha Shetty is from Katapadi. Harish Shetty himself was a good football player. While studying in the Vijaya College, Mulki, Harish Shetty was the goal keeper of the Vijaya college football team. It is but natural that, Grishma has inherited the talents of her father and will definitely bring laurels not only for her family and college where she studies but also to Padubidri, Udupi District and Karnataka, her native place.
