Udupi: Third-Day of State level Girls NSS camp highlights Significance of Speech

Udupi, 9 Nov 2013: The third- day of the state level girls NSS camp at St Lawrence Pre-University College, Moodubelle, near here on Thursday November 7, comprised lecture on varieties of talks in the afternoon session and the cultural program in the evening.


 
A weeklong state level girls NSS camp is going on at St Lawrence Pre-University College, Moodubelle.


 
The day began with yoga training early in the morning, followed by flag hoisting. Moodeubelle entrepreneur Preetam Alva hoisted the flag on the occasion.


 
The lecture program began on Thursday afternoon.


 
Bangalore teachers Association vice president Aroor Timmappa Shetty was the resource person.


 
St Lawrence Pre-University College retired lecturer P D Kamat presided the function.

 
The College governing council membe Benedict Martis and NSS associate co-ordinating officer Dinesh C R from Mysore.


 
Aroor Timmappa Shetty in his lecture explained the different stages of speeches, introductory, lighter mode, serious mode, positive mode and conclusion etc, which will have greater impact on the audience, to drive home the message.


  
 
P D Kamat in his presidential address said that those who know how to speak, for them speaking is like jewel. But those who do not know how to speak, for them it is like a red stone. In a short time, speaking of much significance  is the art of speech, he said.


 
 
St Lawrence Pre-University College principal Fr Paul Sequeira and NSS camp officer Edward Larson was present on the dais.


 
Deeksha and Pushpalata compered the programme. Rashmi welcomed the gathering. Priya K led the prayer song. Anushree introduced the guests. Swathi proposed vote of thanks.

 

 

 The evening cultural program was presided by Fr Robert Lasrado, superior of Assisi Nilaya of Capuchins, Nalkubidi, Kattingeri, Moodubelle.


 
Fr Robert Lasrado in his address said that when the opportunity knocks at the door, one should seize it and work towards success with concerted efforts and clear goal, said Fr Lasrado. 


 
 
Belle gram panchayat former president Shivaji S Suvarna and LIC Udupi branch manager Sadasiva were the chief guests of the occasion.


 
Ramya compered the program. Prabhavati welcomed the the gathering. Bhavya proposed vote of thanks.


 
The students presented variety cultural shows as part of entertainment programme.
