Udupi: State Level Girls NSS Camp Inaugurated in St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle

Udupi/Moodubelle, 05 Nov 2013:  In a glittering ceremony attended by state Ministers and religious heads and School teachers, the grand inauguration of State Level N.S.S. Special camp took place at St. Lawrence P.U. College ground attended by more than 300 N.S.S. girls students from all the state.


The State Level N.S.S Camp is being organized by St. Lawrence P.U. College, Moodubelle starting from 5th November to 11th November 2013.  The grand opening ceremony was attended by Bishop of Udupi Rev. Dr. Jerald Alexander Lobo, Bishop Udupi Diocese,  Fr. Alexander Lobo, Founder St. Lawrence PU College, Mr. Vinay Kumar Sorake (Minister of Urben Development), Mr. Abaychandra Jain (Minister of Youth, Sport and Fisheries) and Mr. Jayprakash Hegde, M.P. Udupi-Chickmagalure), Rev. Fr. Joswy Fernandes, Correspondent-St. Lawrence Educational academy, Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira-Principal, St. Lawrence P.U. College, Mr. Edward Larson D’Souza, Director, N.S.S. Camp and many other prominent dignitaries, Educationists, Districts Panchayat officers and members.



The seven day camp with a grand procession by N.S.S. Camp students, teachers, supporters accompanied by school band from the Petrol Bump via St. Lawrence Church to the camp site at the college ground followed by all the dignitaries.  The highlights of the St. Lawrence Educational Institutions are that the Primary School is just completing hundred years, High School 54 years and P.U College 32 years and Degree College completed two years of its establishment.  The school and college has excelled in every field mainly academically and sports and social activities.


The inauguration ceremony began with a prayer song by School Children followed by Rev. Fr. Joswy Fernandes.  He accorded a warm welcome to each and every one particularly President of the inauguration Ceremony Rev. Dr. Jerald Isac Lobo, Bishop Udupi Diocese, Ministers and MP Jayaprakash Hegde despite their busy schedules, the attended the inauguration ceremony and it’s a proud moment for our college and specially for N.S.S. camp by their support and attendance.  All the dignitaries on the dais were felicitated by floral banquettes and shawls.


The camp director Mr. Edward Larson D’Souza accorded warm greeting to all N.S.S. students and said that there are about 780 N.S.S. organizations in the state and today it is in the 9th year and we are very proud that Moodubelle has been selected to hold the State Level Camp attended by students from all over the state and he further said it will be one of the most memorable camps and sure all students learn, enjoy and  filled with of loads of activities.  He thanked all the support from college Principal, educational heads, local people, well wishers, donors and all the dignitaries on the stage for the strong support.
































Also spoke on the occasion were MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Mr. Vinay Sorake, Fr. Alexander Lobo, Mr. Abaychandra Jain, Mr. Upendra Nayak, Mr. Gannapathi, Ms. Gauri Poojari, Mr. Rajendra Shetty, Ms. Ida Gibba D’Souza and Mr. V. Krishna Paramathma.
In his presidential address HE Rev Dr. Jerlad Lobo highlighted the motto of the N.S.S  to serve others and give selfless service to the society… “ It is not me but You “ that matters and further said quoting words of Jesus that we are here not to be served but to serve and N.S.S students should serve on this goal.  We should be peace makers.  N.S.S. provide training in many aspects to refine the students in the service of Nation and build a Nation of Peace, tolerance,  equality, and nurture as good subjects.  He said “ Today what you are a gift of God but tomorrow what you become it will be your gift to God”  and he wished the students all the best and become the good subjects of the nation and N.S.S camp is the best option to work on this goal.


The vote of thanks was proposed by Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira, Principal St. Lawrence P.U. College.  The emcee of the day Mr. Vasanth Shetty Kudi was felicitated by Bishop with a shawl and flower bouquette.  The inauguration ceremony concluded with a prayer.

Belle is creating new hostroy for generationext to read and to follow. the event of NSS at St Lawrence Junior college under the flat Form of Rev. Fr. Alexander Lobo , who was the cause for the commencement of Junior college, is yet another mile stone of History of this High School Junior College. In the words of Bishop Lobo, this is the gift the Belle citizen gave to God for his great reward of this village turned historic today. Hearty congratulations to the organizers and the participants to have made this even a historic one. may God be pleased being in his Heavens.

Really, Really felt very proud to see HE Bishop of Udupi, MP, couple of ministers, Presidents and members of local bodies at one dias, on this historical event. It look like a all party meeting held in my Boliye. Nice photos, nice news coverage. I also felt so proud to see our child s (my kid s) photo in the midst of all these dignitaries. Thank you Baby for being a part of this historic event. At the sametime I have a humble request with the organizers, Pls make all the above deligates united, for the development of our Belle in all angles. Let them show the same interest in completing all of the pending projects in our region.
