Udupi: Large number of people respond to Free Eye Check up Camp in Lions Seva Bhavan Moodubelle

Udupi/M,belle,29 Sep 2013: A large number of people responded to the free eye check up camp sponsored collectively by Lions, Lioness, Leo Clubs of Moodubelle, Prasad Netralaya Udupi, District Health  Department, NSS Unit of St. Lawrence College, Moodubelle, Arvind Vyasaraya Ballal, Mumbai, Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Village Development Programme Belle-Kattingeri, Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala Edemeru and JCI Belle at Lions Seva Bhavan, Moodubelle on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 9.30 am to 1 pm. Nearly 240 persons took advantage of the free eye camp.


 
The free eye camp was inaugurated by Dr. Krishna Prasad, Director of Prasad Netralaya Udupi along with Dr. Daniel, Vinod Castelino, President of Lions Club Moodubelle, Mrs. Avani Castelino, President of Lioness Club, Moodubelle, Commodore Jerome Castelino, Charter Pressident of Lions Club, Moodubelle, Alphonse K. Alva, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Lakshmi Narayan Nayak, President of Nisarga Yuvaka Mandala, Santhosh Kumar, President of  JCI Belle, Mrs. Kusuma Makwan, NSS Programme Officer-St. Lawrence College, Moodubelle, Mrs. Sujata Suvarna, President of  SKDRDP, Moodubelle and Devdas Hebbar.

 


 
In his address, Dr. Krishna Prasad highlighted the need for regular eye check up not only among the elderly people but also among the children as his experience has found that there are quite a number of children from young age suffer from sight defect due to various reasons. He said that it was the sixth free eye check up camp that he was conducting in the Lions Seva Bhavan, Moodubelle and complimented the office bearers and members of the Lions Club for making arrangements for the eye camp. He made an appeal to the people that those who are asked to come to Prasad Netralaya following the camp should take the opportunity where the treatment would be free.


 
Alphonse K. Alva wished well to the free eye camp and thanked the Lions Club of Moodubelle for arranging such a camp for the benefit of the poor people and Dr. Krishna Prasad for conducting the camp.


 
Devdas Hebbar welcomed the guests, Students of St. Lawrence College sang the prayer and Elias Lobo, Secretary of the Lions Club, Moodubelle proposed the vote of thanks. The NSS students of St. Lawrence College helped in registering the persons who attended the camp.
