Udupi: Career guidance workshop ’MARGADARSHANA’ held for students

Udupi, 13 May 2024: Career guidance workshop “MARGADARSHANA” was organised by CSI Christha Mahima Church in collaboration with the Udupi Area Council, Bharathiya Christha Okkuta, UBM DCB & Trust and Lombard Mission Hospital, Udupi on May 10 at Basel Missionaries Memorial Auditorium, Udupi.

 

The workshop targeted students from Classes 9 to II PUC and offered them insights into various career paths through a series of presentations and interactive sessions.

 

The programme started with a prayer by Ivan D Soans, area chairman of Udupi Area Council and was followed by the lamp lighting by the dignitaries present during the programme.

 

The dignitaries included Praveen Maben, CSI Christha Mahima Church, Manipura, Dr Sushil Jathanna, director, Lombard Mission Hospital, Udupi, Prakash Simons, president, UBM DCB & Trust, Sadananda Kanchan, secretary, UBM DCB & Trust and the coordinators of the programme Dr Christopher Sudhakar Karkada, director, quality, MAHE and Roshan David Jathanna, deputy director, student affairs, MAHE.

 

 

Following the inauguration, the workshop covered a wide range of topics. Dr P V Bhandary, director of A V Baliga Group of Institutions spoke on the importance of the five D’s critical to career decision-making, guiding students on making informed choices based on desire, determination, discipline, dedication, and direction.

 

Dr Shirley Lewis Salins, associate professor and head of the department of Radiotherapy at KMC, Manipal, shared valuable information on courses in health sciences.

 

Lt Dundesh Shivalingappa Chiniwar, an assistant professor and NCC officer from MIT, MAHE, explored career options available in the defense sector. CA Pradeep Jogi, from Pradeep Jogi & Co Chartered Accountants, offered insights into the chartered accountancy profession and its prospects.

 

Chetan Rajaratna, principal of Hebich Technical Training Institute, Mangaluru, discussed opportunities in public service and technical fields. Additionally, session on competitive exam preparations and financial aid were also conducted, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the various avenues available for their future by Prasanth Neelavar, assistant professor, Political Science, GFGC, Thenkanidiyoor. Rayan Mathaias, student counsellor, MAHE conducted aptitude test for all the participants which helped the individuals identify their strengths and weaknesses, guiding them towards suitable career paths.

 

The workshop also featured interactive stations focusing on subjects like health sciences, technical, social sciences, and financial assistance. These stations allowed students to engage directly with professionals and ask questions pertinent to their interests.

 

Dr Sahana Maben efficiently moderated the event.
