Mangalore, 26 Sep 2013: Demanding a thorough probe into mysterious death of a college student, the ABVP has called for a college bandh, barring Pre University, on Friday.
This follows after the body of Akshata (18), a second year BCom student of Venkataramana Government First Grade College, Car Street was found near an ice plant at Mulihitlu on Tuesday.
ABVP members said that there have been many cases of teenage girls going missing and Akshata’s case was proof of that. The deceased had left home on Saturday to attend special classes but she never went to college. Her relatives filed a complaint at Mangalore Rural police station on Sunday.
The ABVP members claimed that Akshata was friendly with a boy from Manjeshwar and he too was missing, claiming foul play in the death of Akshata. Though a postmortem was conducted, the cause of death has not been identified. The viscera have been sent for forensic examination.
Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who visited the Wenlock Hospital Mortuary on Thursday calmed the agitating students assuring that he would direct authorities to probe the death.
