Uppinangady : Student thrashed in public for harassing girl
Uppinangady, 21 Sep 2013: A student of Uppinangady Government First Grade College named Ranjith ,who was earlier booked in the recent Uppinangady case was again in bad light for harassing a girl. The public thrashed Ranjith for his act on September 20.
Who is Ranjith?
Ranjith is a student of Uppinangady Government First Grade College and was recently in news for having pulled the hair of a girl of a minority community that had created communal tension in Uppinangady. Ranjith was booked under POTA and arrested. This followed protest by organisations and also applications were submitted demanding release of Ranjith.
Ranjith was later released on bail and was at home. It was only on Shakuntala Shetty’s insistence Ranjith stepped into the college again.
Repeat performance
It is learnt that Ranjith who had joined college again resorted to his old habits and sent obscene text messages to the girl of the same community. Ranjith insisted that he would want to meet the girl at a private restaurant. The girl brought this matter to the notice of her parents.
However ,on Friday September 20, Ranjith was caught red handed and thrashed in public. He was later handed over to the police station.
No complaint –Ranjith Released
Since no complaint was lodged by the girl, Ranjith was let scot-free.
