Udupi : Free Health Check-up, Blood Camp Held at Bantakal Engg College

Udupi, 16 Sep, 2013 : At the joint aegis of NSS unit of Sri Madwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Bantakal, Indian Red Cross (IRC), Rotaract Club, Adarsh Super Speciality Hospital, district Government Hospital and Jaycees Club International (JCI) – Kaup, mega free health check-up camp and blood camp, health awareness programme was held on account of Engineers’ Day celebration at the Institute’s campus, here on Sunday September 16.

 

 

Dr H G Shekarappa, vice chancellor of Vishveshwarayya Technological University, Belgaum in his inaugural address urged the students not to study for the sake of appearing for exams, instead take active part in social welfare activities.  He also commended the social concern of the management of the Institute.

 

Dr G S Chandrashekar, managing director of Adarsh Super Speciality Hospital, here said that student play key role in creating health awareness in the society.

 

The district government hospital medical officer Dr Anand Nayak said that the god’s creation of humans have 4 blood groupings, A, B, AB and O.  The caste, creed and religion are manmade.  One can save precious lives by donating blood that can control cholesterol and improves well being, said Dr Nayak.

 

Sri Madwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology principal Dr Radhakrishna S Ithal, Sri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Education Trust secretary Ratnakumar, dean Dr A Ganesh, JCI - Kaup Rakesh Kunjoor were present at the dais.

 

The student union president Rahul V Kotian welcomed the gathering.  Ramyashree rendered the prayers.  Calvin Palanna compered the programme.  The students Nikhita Acharya, Hita and Diksha Kini introduced the guests.  Aishwarya Acharya proposed vote of thanks.

 

Over 250 people availed the free facilities of cholesterol and diabetes testing, blood grouping, osteoporosis and ECG on the occasion.

 

Over 100 units of blood was collected during the blood camp donated by the students, teaching staff and general public.
