Mangalore: Sri Rama Sene demands Speaker’s Apology for Statement on Abbakka

Mangalore, 6 Aug 2013: Dakshina Kannada district unit of Sri Rama Sene staged protest in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner, here on Monday August 6, demanding the resignation of Vidhan Sabha speaker Kagodu Thimmappa for his irresponsible statement on Rani Abbakka.
Addressing the protestor, Sri Rama Sene local chief Kumar Malemar, said that speaker seeking explanation on Rani Abbakka’s service in the freedom struggle deserves to be condemned, said Malemar.
Malemar alleged that the speaker has defamed Rani Abbakka who heroically fought against Portuguese invaders in the erstwhile Tulunadu. He also sought the apology or resignation from the post for his irresponsible statement by disregarding the history.
Malemar also criticized, MLA U T Khader for not voicing his concern on the issue, even though he belongs to Abbakkas birth place – Ullal and also serves as president of Rani Abbakka Utsav Samiti.
The activists of Sri Rama Sene also burnt the effigy of speaker Kagodu Thimmappa.
Sri Rama Sene key activists - Ganesh Attavar, Jeevan Neermarga, Mahesh Bhat, Mahesh Padavinangady and others were present on the occasion.
