Udupi: All Houses in District to Get Toilets in Partnership with RCI

Udupi, 05 August, 2013 : As per the recent survey that was undertaken in all villages across Udupi district, about 27,000 households have no toilets, while they will be provided with toilets by end of this year, with the assistance of district administration, Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and Rotary Club International (RCI). The support of general public, local social activists are essential for the success of this programme, said ZP president Upendra Nayak.
Upendra Nayak was speaking after inaugurating workshop on social service programmes that was organized at the aegis of RCI district 318, district administration and RCI – Shirva, at Dr V S Acharya auditorium of ZP, here on Saturday August 3.
RCI district governor S Gururaj Mysore was the chief guest, said that RCI is committed to improving the healthcare, upliftment of poor and education by utilizing funds from RCI district grant and global grant, said Gururaj.
Speaking on the occasion, ZP chief executive officer S A Prabhakar Sharma urged RCI in achieving 100 percent toilets to all residents of Udupi district.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar offered information on the significance of voting, inclusion of names in voters list, enrollment of NRIs in voters list and general awareness that are planned in association with RCI on voting.
The district education officer Ashok Kamat said that Right to Information (RCI) Act and Sakaala programmes are effective in creating transparency and reforms in administration.
RCI district RCI Committee president B Pundalika Marate in his introductory address, explained the objectives of RCI.
RCI – Shirva president Leo Noronha presided the programme.
RCI zone 3 assistant governor Madhav Suvarna was present at the dais.
RCI zone 2 assistant governor M Mahesh Kumar welcomed the gathering. The zone 1 assistant governor Mahabaleshwar Bhat proposed vote of thanks. RCI – Shirva past president K R Patkar and Raghupati Ithal compered the programme.
