K’pur: Bishop Dr Gerald I Lobo of Udupi Diocese arrives on Maiden Visit to Our Lady of Rosary

Kundapur, 4 Aug 2013: Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi diocese paid a maiden visit to Our Lady of Rosary parish, here on Saturday August 3 evening.

The parish priest and Kundapur deanery vicar Fr Anil D’Souza and principal Fr Praveen Martis welcomed Bishop Dr Gerald at the entrance gate.

Bishop Dr Gerald offered prayers along with the congregation, also distributed holy candles to the members of parish council. 
Bishop’s personal assistant Fr Henry Mascarenhas enlightened the congregation on indulgences that can be offered to the repose of souls.

 

 

Fr Praveen Martis proclaimed the Word of God, while Bishop Dr Gerald in his homily said, ‘death is not end for Christians, because Christ has risen from dead and everyone will be resurrected in glory.’ He called on the faithful, to live in Christ for eternal glory.
Bishop Dr Gerald joined in the procession to the cemetery and blessed the premises.  He returned to the parish and preached on the occasion. 

 
He also met the children who are going to receive Sacrament of Confirmation at the parish on Sunday August 4.
Bishop Dr Gerald offered Sacrament of Confirmation to 15 boys and 20 girls during the Sunday Holy Mass, here on August 4 morning. 

He preached his flock to live in Christ and obey his Commandments.  

He expressed his deep concern on declining ratio of Christians in the country, which was not in adherence to command given by God during the early human evolution.  He also urged the faithful, not to distort His command and co-operate in procreation, said Bishop Dr Gerald.

Further, Bishop Dr Gerald said that Our Lady of Rosary parish – Kundapur is the oldest in Udupi diocese and also significant parish in Kundapur deanery, wherein meetings of priests from different parishes gather for meetings.  It needs a spacious presbytery and other infrastructural developments which would enhance its beauty, said Bishop Dr Gerald. 

Kundapur deanery vicar Fr Anil D’Souza, principal Fr Praveen Martis and Bishop’s personal assistant Fr Henry Mascarenhas were present on the occasion.

Bishop Dr Gerald also met the office bearers of different organizations in the parish, and exchanged their views with each other.
