Udupi: Konkani Overseas Returnees Welfare Association Distributes School Bags to Students of Kolalgi

Udupi, 19 June, 2013 : Mangalore based Konkani Overseas Returnees Welfare Association ® (KORWA) distributed school bags to the poor and needy students of St Xavier’s Higher Primary Schoool, Kolalgiri, near here on Wednesday June 19. This School is coming under Udipi District and runs the  classes from I to VII Standard. The children who study here are from a very poor and below the poverty line families.
 

 

St Xavier’s Higher Primary School head teacher Sr Hildegarde welcomed the gathering and introduced the committee members of the KORWA namely: Mr. Louis Lobo, President; Mr. Elias Sanctis Vice President; Mr. David D’Souza, Cultural Secretary; Mr. John Tauro, Public Relation Officer; Mr. Deepak Monteiro, Member; Mrs. Flora Hislop, Joint Secretary; Mrs. Jessy Pinto, General Secretary. She also expressed her gratitude to KORWA for donating the school bags to the students.

 
The students offered prayers during the assembly held in school hall and expressed their happiness for getting the school bags and appreciated CORWA members in gratitude.

 
KORWA president Louis Lobo and vice president Elias Sanctis advised the students to work hard on their studies and wished them a bright future.  Fr. Wilfred Frank (OCD) a Newly appointed Parish Priest of Kolalgiri Church was present and expressed his joy of witnessing such an social work done by KORWA Association. He prayed and wished for growth of the Association.

 
The general secretary Jessy Pinto briefed about social welfare activities undertaken by KORWA. Jessy said to the children to bring-out all their God given talents and make the future successful, but always remain as good human being  and take care of  the parents in their old age.

 
KORWA public relations officer John Valerian Tauro, joint secretary Flora Hislop and member Deepak Monteiro were present on the occasion.

 
Sweets were distributed to all the students after the stage programme. Sr Hildegard compered the programme.
