Parish Priest of Kuntalnagar - Fr. Jerome Monteiro given warm send off

Udupi, 20 May 2013: Fr. Jerome Monteiro who had been the parish priest of St. Antony’s Parish, Kuntalnagar for the last three years was given a warm send off on Sunday, May 19, 2013 after 8.30 am Mass. Fr. Monteiro has been transferred as the parish priest of St. Dominic Savio parish, Miyar.

After the Mass, in a brief send off programme, Valerian Mathais, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council welcomed the gathering. Theodore Mendonca, the Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council read the citation in which he highlighted the achievements of Fr. Monteiro for the last three years in the Kuntalnagar parish especially building of St. Antony’s Shrine and the outdoor Stations of the Way of the Cross in the church premises.
Valerian Mathias, the Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council and the Presidents of various parish associations honoured Fr. Jerome Monteiro by offering him shawl, fruit tray and garlands. The parishioners also expressed their gratitude by offering garlands and flower bouquets.
In his address to the parishioners, Fr. Jerome Monteiro thanked all parishioners for their support and cooperation during the last three years as the parish priest of Kuntalnagar.
Theodore Mendonca proposed the vote of thanks.
Fr. Denis D’Sa
Fr. Jerome Monteiro will be proceeding to Miyar on May 26, 2013 to take charge of the parish as the parish priest. In his place Fr. Denis D’Sa, presently the Administrator of Fr. Muller’s Hospital will arrive as the parish priest of Kuntalnagar.

| Somebody has to build church, school and institution like we build our house, apartment and family. Because some builder father s vision we all practiced our faith, descent education, schools, colleges, hospitals, medical and engineering colleges, professional courses etc... It is easy to cry foul, may be there are very few genuine cases, branding all under one looks unfair. Most donors are proud and satisfied at the development where without a proper built structure it is impossible. Proper Church and institution buildings may not prevent build temple in heart instead comfort to practice faith and enjoy growth with faith and prayer. | |

| It is St Dominic Church, not Dominic Savio Church. I agree with Mr. Noronha when he says parish priest should become builders of temples in hearts of people rather than becoming builder fathers . Look around parishes of M lore and Udupi and you will find that almost all parish priests are "builder fathers" concentrating on buildings necessary or not,taking undue advantage of gullible parishioners generosity and burdening them financially. Every new priest invents some work or other and milks people dry, and Miyar is not an exception. | |

| With Mixed feelings I wish Fr. Jerome God s Blessings on his transfer from Kuntalnagar. He has done wonderfully well in the propagation of faith-evangelization-at Kuntalnagar and given a face lift to the hill top, which is difficult to describe. It was perhaps to lead the Mission in a wider and more populated parish like the one in Miyar,Fr. Monteiro deserves all good wishes of the People of Kuntalanagar, though he was there for only Two years. It is also a hearty welcome to Fr Denis D Sa, who had won the hearts of large populace of Magalore diocese and as director of Fr. Mullar Hospital Magalore. In my view this kind of Priests who can build temples in the hearts of the laity, e given more responsibilty in spreading the evangelization work, so that the impressions that present daof priests more involved in building buildings, than building divine temples in the hearts of People. It is all God s Plans. while I wish Fr Monteiro all the Best, I wish and welcome Fr Denis D Sa to Kuntalnagar to make it a place- Parish very close to Heaven not because the church is at Heights, but it needs to be raised a devotional centre of St. Antony with regular adorations and worship sessons | |
