Udupi, 5 May 2013: Every Indian national has to vote.  It’s the ardent duty of a patriot to exercise his franchisee.  Not to vote is equal to treason…. exclaimed ninety-four-year-old local freedom fighter K L Sharma.

The freedom fighter Sharma was a staunch Ghandhian, abandoned his home and family and worked in freedom struggle for nearly 15 years and also served 4 years in prison.  He is a walking Gandhi in khadi attire in the locality of Bantakal.  Laxminaryan Sharma is the living example of burning patriotism in his veins who despite his old age arrived to cast his vote at the polling cener with the help of his son - social activist Ramakrishna Sharma and daughter-in-law Shubada Sharma.

Speaking to www.bellevision.com, Sharma said it seems both union and state governments are competition in corruption..! Where has the patriotism of people’s leaders gone?  Despite over six decades passed since Independence, the progress is not up to the mark.  There is dearth of candidates with good character.  The political parties are corrupted.  One has to cast vote to the most eligible in order to strengthen the democracy.  Our nation has great history.  Let us elect the good candidate.  Everything will be alright.  No need of despair, said Sharma.

Only a freedom fighter knows the value of freedom. None of the political parties are corrupt. The members of the party are corrupt. Unfortunately, they are in a majority. It is not easy to clean up a party of corruption; but corruption can be contained only if the party is interested in running a goverment. Winning an election should not be their only goal.
