M’lore taluk level Inter-school Hockey Tournament inaugurated

Mangalore, 01 September 2012: The Mangalore Taluk-level Inter-school Hockey Tournament got off at Central Football Maidan, Mangalore in spite of dampening weather on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 9 am. The tournament was inaugurated by lighting lamp by former MCC commissioner J R Lobo. The guests of honour included Mayor Gulzar Banu, corporator Suresh Babu, headmistress of St Mary’s School Sr Maria Thara, Sr Florine Pinto.

Speaking at this occasion, J.R. Lobo said that students should take interest in extra-curricular activities such as sports along with their studies in order to develop their personality and have better prospects in life. He also said that students should avail as many facilities as possible for the government schemes.

 

 

The Inter-school Hockey Tournament is being organized by St Mary’s School, Falnir along with education department of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat and Zonal Education Office.

The tournament is being conducted for boys and girls of primary and high school section from various schools. As many as 11 teams will participate in the tournament in under-14 and under-17 categories.

Sr Maria Thara welcomed, Elizabeth N V compered and Kiran delivered the vote of thanks.
