Mumbai, 19 May 2012: Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) president and Union Minister for Science and Technology Vilasrao Deshmukh on Friday announced that actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is also co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has been barred from entering Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium for five years.

On Wednesday night, an hour after KKR defeated Mumbai Indians, an altercation broke out between the actor and MCA security guards and officials leading to a heightened tension in the ground; police officials later at the behest of MCA officials registered a non-cognisable offence, against the actor.

The squabble-controversy on Thursday snow-balled into a major ego-tussle between the IPL team owner and MCA officials.

The association called an emergency meeting on Friday. After the meeting, Deshmukh informed a press meet that while several managing committee officials during the discussion had demanded life-time ban imposition on the actor. After a lot of deliberation the officials unanimously decided to impose the five-year entry ban on the actor.

Deshmukh said: “The decision is to send a message that this is not how one should behave. The rules apply to all, no one is above them...and since this property belongs to the MCA, we have decided the ban.”

To a query as to why no committee was instituted to look into the matter, Deshmukh answered: “Over 50 per cent of MCA officials were present at the time of brawl so there was no point in forming an interim committee to look into the incident. As for his allegation that his daughter was pushed, we have not received any complaint from him. If we had received we would have certainly looked into it but instead. He is unapologetic and is going around justifying his actions.”

After news channels on Thursday bayed for actor’s blood, an unpeturbed Bollywood ‘Badshah’ called a press conference and demanded an apology from the MCA.
Dismissing the MCA version, Khan said that he did “what any father would do if someone misbehaves with a child.”

Rubbishing the allegation that he was drunk at the time of outburst on the ground, said that he was being bullied and “I got very angry when they pushed little girls. Manhandling kids is not pardonable. Their behaviour was completely rude. I will not deny the fact that I was not abusive.

“They should apologise to me. They were abusive. They shouldn’t have spoken to me like that. They manhandled children in the name of security....”

Interestingly, though the actor denied intake of alcohol, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Zone-1) Iqbal Shaikh, on Thursday, while recounting the mid-night scrimmage where he acted as peace-maker, said: “ His breath did smell of drink when I reached the spot late in night.

Every individual should be given equal treatment if Sharukh Khan is guilty then he should be punished even if he is bollywood star.

Few people are very special in this world. Shahrukh s fame is not just because of his movies. His personal life is crystal clear unlike other movie stars of Bollywood/Hollywood. I support him as a good human being. I am not at all a fan of SRK, i admire him as a person. If you say it was media who made him this big star or given fame, Then sorry, i would like to say that, IT WAS MEDIA WHO MADE THIS INCIDENT HUGE!!!

Why do you support this actor when he is totally on the wrong side of the fence? SRK would not have been anything without the media hype and Cricket/movie crazy fans. How could you be sure that the characters he portrays in movies, he lives in real life too? Movies are fiction and for entertainment, its better to forget once you're out of the movie theater. It's clear in the picture that SRK was totally drunk and screeching his lungs out at the poor security guard who was just doing his duty. As per the rules it seems that nobody should be allowed to the ground whether he's an owner or some celebrity, then is he above the law of the land? As a public figure he needs to behave in public. In recent months how many times he's been abusive towards others? He slapped Shirish Kunder, then he smoked publicly while in Jaipur, he was detained by the immigration authorities in US and made huge hue and cry about it. How many times have we heard US authorities detaining people with "Khan" last name? There are millions of people with that last name but not a single incidence. He was detained as his shows were sponsored by those who are linked with terrorist organizations.

I am almost sure about this case. It was very natural situation. Myself have witnessed these kind of fights a lot many times in several occassions. Since i have not witnessed this scene in my eyes i will not talk more on this. But indeed when our loved ones fall into such trouble (turned political/legal now)it really bothers us.

It hurts when you like someone and he gets into some trouble for bad behavior in public. This is one side of the story but nobody is looking at the other side of it!!(Security personnel)! We in India have many legends in their respective fields who have gone through difficulties in their public and professional lives, but pride themselves on their public behavior. So it is high time that people should read the biographies of these people and in turn worship them as opposed to supporting wrong doing.

Franky uncle, believe me, most of the times SRK forgets that he is a celebrity. He is really a family man. He was just a common man on that day. A angry father. Just imagine some security guards pushing your 2 daughters, or behaving rude with children in any function. I bet you, you would question them. And if it is a CELEBRATION time, In excitement you also might abuse them a little. Trust me uncle!!! He was right..Since I am well versed with SRK s biography, I could tell this much..

I and my two daughters are big fans of SRK. But with this wankhede episode I must admit that SRK's Image has been badly damaged by his own public behavior. So to say it was wrong on his part to ignore rules of the MCA and that too being a well known personality he should have refrained picking up a squabble with security personnel. Whatever little has been shown on T.V. and information on various channels and news papers and the action taken by MCA proves that it's clearly SRK was at the wrong end of the Wankhede Stadium on that particular night!! Sorry mate! Five years is a long period not to enter the famous stadium in Mumbai! If at all the 'Kolkata Didi' is going to bat for you I am afraid, it is still going to be very tough¦.
