Mumbai, 22 April 2010: Any journey or travel through the maze of nature either through road in vehicles or railway tracks of course by trains is a treat to the eyes as one can always view the landmarks and passing landscape with varied shapes and colours during different seasons. While monsoon presents moist and lush green scenery, the autumn has its own charm and the spring that has just set in manifests itself with floral bonanza with flowering plants and trees.

As Matsyagandha has been a preferred mode of travel to and from Mumbai with many passengers, the landscape along the rail way tracks could be explored many times as each journey provides new scenes and fresh avenues for enjoying the nature.

During my recent journey to Mumbai from Udupi, i could see a number of things that i would like to share with the readers of Bellevision. As the train rattled through the tracks one could see the vast expanse of agricultural land interspersed with hilly and forest region and rivers and water bodies at regular intervals. This being the spring or flowering season, cashew trees with flowers could be seen by the slops of the hilly regions and forested areas  so also mango trees and other plants and shrubs presenting  colourful flowers all along as far as the sun light permits one to view the scenery outside.

As the train moves forward one can see the rabi paddy crop still standing on patches of agricultural land awaiting harvesting. One also can see verities of   pulses being grown in certain areas and  at other places  paddy saplings painting the patches of land into lush green colour.

As the train crossed Byndoor station one could see the sun preparing itself to take the plunge beyond the western horizon.   With the sun turning reddish, its rays could be seen reflecting in the passing river waters as a golden beam when captured in camera. The slowly setting sun though played hide and seek across the hills and coconut palms presented itself with its golden glory at intervals  shedding amazing colour on the landscape. The hills, coconut trees and even the telecommunication towers could be seen as silhouettes in the foreground.  By the time the train reached Kumta the sun had already set making the clouds beyond the western horizon to glow in different colours.

Earlier at Bhatkal one could see a large uprooted tree on the platform with its roots pointing to the sky. Though the branches of the tree were chopped off, one can still see  tender sprouts growing vertically from the trunk of the dead tree. This makes one to think about the mysteries of nature that even in death there is life. As time passed and train moved with full speed, the nature outside was wrapped under the blanket of darkness to be explored by other passengers of other trains passing through that region during  day time.

The sceneries are truly a treat to the eyes. Scenes like these would make the train journey comfortable. Pictures were nicely captured by Dr. Eugene.
