Karkala: Chief Minister Inaugurates Koti Chennaya Theme Park

Karkala, 30 January 2012: As published in the state government budget, the Koti – Chennaya theme park constructed at Kasaba Grama in 100 acre land with a cost of rupees 1.87 crores, has been inaugurated by Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda. Speaking on this occasion he said that this theme park which represents the culture of the coastal area will be developed more to attract the National and International tourists.
 
Speaking further CM said that, rupees 2 crores which is required for the construction work in the 2nd phase will be provided in the budget. On this subject very soon meeting will be held with the Tourism Development and also Kannada and Culture  Department. And the smaller construction works such as canteen, toilets, etc the MLAs and MLCs can utilize the funds from their grants, he said.

 


 
The mothers should tell the story of the sacrifice of Koti Chennaya who fought against injustice 400 years ago. Baiditi, the mother of these warriors was the popular country medicine woman of those days. Tourism Department will construct “Mulika Vana” in her name in this theme park and the government is committed to provide everything that is necessary, said Chief Minister.
 
Since Udupi District is the home district of the Chief Minister, he assured that he will give more priority here and announced to provide grants of rupees 2 crores toKrkal city’s  Bantimutt – Ananthashayana road development, rupees 92 lakhs to Anekere (Elephant lake) development, rupees 1.10 crores for the development of Bandimutt bus stop.
 
The program was presided by local MLA Gopala Bhandary. District In Charge Minister Dr. V.S. Acharya, Udupi MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, MLC member Kota Shrinivasa Poojary, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojary, Karkala Former MLA Sunil Kumar, Municipal President Pratima Mohan, Kannada and Cultural Department Officer Leelavati and others were present.
 
On this occasion Chief Minister felicitated Arun Kumar of Nirmiti Centre who worked hard on this project, Artist Purushothama Adwe, Sculptor Harish Pai and Sculptor of  the Koti – Chennaya statues Jayaraja Acharya Karkala.
 
Speaking in his introductory note MLC member Kota Shrinivasa Poojary said that, already rupees 1.78 crores is released and the work of the 1st phase in 6 acre land is completed. For the 2nd phase work rupees 2 crores is required. And he requested Chief Minister to release this amount from the next budget. Also, he said that there are more than 250 temples worshiping Koti-Chemmaya which are very old now, the government need to give grants for the refurbishment of these also, he requested.
