Udupi, 07 July 2011: Is the medicine she took four months ago when she had hand injury spoiled her future? Or was she given vitamin food that contained steroids? Or the Russian coach may have given her steroids without her knowledge? All these doubts comes to the mind of Chidananda Shetty, father of Ashwini Shetty, who failed in the dope test. Because as per him, his daughter would never take any drugs containing steroids. Something has happened behind these accusations. But he does not know what it is.

Sports Authority of India, Olympic Association, Indian Athletic Association, Indian Coaches, Foreign Coaches..... all these do not have good understanding between them. Within their issues there is nobody to care for the athletes. With this irresponsibility something has gone wrong and 7 – 8 athletes like Ashwini have become the victims by this, says Chidananda with grief.

When she gets fever she never takes any tablets prescribed by the doctors, instead she takes herbal medicine (kashaya). Four months ago she fell and had injury to her hand in Bangalore, it took 4 – 5 hours to admit her to hospital, hand was severely paining, but still she never took any pain killer tablet. Even after admitted to the hospital she told the doctors that she is an athlete and took only the tablets suitable for athletes.

Seeing all these, how can we believe that she has taken any drugs containing steroids? Questions Chidananda Shetty. He is now worried whether Ashwini will loose the opportunity to go to Japan and also to Korea. On Monday evening Ashwini had spoken to her father Chidananda and mother Yashodha over phone and after that they are confident that it will be proved that their daughter is innocent, and having no other way, they are just praying to God.

Ashwini says that her coach Yuri Ogrodnik gave her Chinese made tablets called Jeenseng and she had taken them. This Jeenseng tablet is ayurvedic medicine and is being taken to reduce anxiety. But the question is why coach Yuri gave Jeenseng tablets? And without knowing anything about it why Ashwini took them? When there are so many incidents taking place of the athletes failing the dope test (which is not unknown to Ashwini) making such a mistake is how much right? To all these questions the answers are yet to be found.
