Newly built Grotto blessed and inaugurated in Pamboor

Pamboor, 29 May 2011: The newly built Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was blessed and inaugurated on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 8.30 in the premises of the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor. The Grotto has been sponsored by Stany and Treeza nNoronha in memory of Stany’s mother, late Mrs. Carmine Noronha. Stany Noronha is the Managing Director of Shiny Shipping and Logistics Pvt. Ltd. The Grotto was constructed by Walter Pinto and Pinto Brothers from Vamanjoor, an expert in Grotto building, who has constructed more than 350 Grottos in different parishes.

The foundation stone for the Grotto was laid on April 3, 2011 by Fr. Charles Lewis, parish priest of Pamboor. Within a short period, the entire work of the Grotto was completed and it was inaugurated on Sunday, May 29, 2011 by Fr. Henry Alva (OFM-Cap) and Fr. Dayanand Kamat. Prayer service was conducted by Fr. Charles Lewis. Other priests who were present for the inauguration function included Fr. Nicholas Martis, Fr. Baptist Castelino, Fr. Evan Suares and Fr. Joel D’Souza, who also compeered the programme.

| It is a great devoute effort for promoting devotion of Mother mary among the faithful. Mother Mary appeared in several places including caves and Grott is one such monument to remember. While some priests demolish Grotto ( Kulshekar Fr. Pinto had doemolished the grotto without consulting the faithful)here is Rev. Fr. Charles Lewis, who has promoted to build a New Grotto, Beautiful than the existing one near the road. Venerating Mother Mary is always blessed act. and the donooooors and the faithful will get Blessing of thier divine Mother.
