Moodubelle: School Buses blessed and inaugurated

Moodubelle, 29 May 2011: It seems that the dream of the Management, principals and students of St. Lawrence Group of Educational Institutions has become a reality as two school buses generously donated by Commodore Jerome (VSM) and Rose Castelino and Valerian Alva, Chairman of Moodubelle Charitable Trust were blessed and inaugurated on Sunday, May 29, 2011 after 7.30 am Mass.
Following the end of the Mass at 8.30 am, parishioners gathered in front of the church where the two school buses were parked. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest of Moodubelle recited prayers and blessed both the buses. Thereafter, Mrs. Rose Castelino inaugurated one of the buses by cutting the ribbon. Mrs. Celestine Alva, mother of Valerian Alva inaugurated the other school bus. To mark the blessing and inauguration of the school buses, sweets were distributed to the parishioners who were present at this occasion.
Besides the donors, the inauguration programme was attended by Fr. Paul Sequeira, principal of St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Fr. Lancy Saldanha, principal of St. Lawrence English medium High School, Alphonse K. Alva and Mrs. Jacinta D’Souza, vice president and secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council respectively and Sr. Veneeta, superior of the Loreto Convent.
The school buses will start functioning from Monday, May 30, 2011. Two experienced drivers, Robert D’Souza and Paul D’Souza will be driving these two school buses. Around 130 students from all the educational institutions have enrolled for commutation to and from the schools daily. The routes of the two school buses are the following: Moodubelle to Kanajar via Kattingeri and Palli; Kodangala, Marne and Pernakila; Manipura, Dendoorkatte and Kuntalnagar; and Poida Pady and Devaragudde.

Dear school management, this is the right step in right direction. Had this step taken earlier, the school would have been at a different level today. School transport is one critical area which contributes to the success of any school in Mangalore and Udupi area. Thanks to the donors. |
