Students Innovative Group inaugurated at the Manipal University

Manipal, 18 February 2011: Student Innovation Group (SIG) is a University Student Initiative under Manipal University Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI) to provide a conducive environment to encourage, nurture and support new ideas. It intends to conduct yearlong activities to foster a spirit of innovation among the student body of all constituent colleges of Manipal University-stepping stones to becoming successful innovators and entrepreneurs.
To start with, an inaugural ceremony clubbed with an Open Discussion Forum was organised recently for all the students of the Manipal University, which witnessed the presence of dignitaries such as Dr. K. Ramnarayan (Vice Chancellor, MU), Dr. Bhaskaran (Sr. Director, Philips Innovation Group and In-charge for Special Projects), Mr. Manjunath Maiya(Sr. Manager, Philips
Healthcare), Dr. Kumkum Garg(Director, MIT), Dr. R.S. Aithal(Joint Director, MIT), and Mr. Ramesha C. (Associate Director, MIT) at the humble setting of the Manipal University Innovation Centre.
The event commenced at 5pm with an introduction to SIG and MUTBI Manipal by Dr. Manohara Pai, and a few words of encouragement and enlightenment by Dr. K. Ramnarayan. The winners of Provenance ’10 were then awarded with cheques by the dignitaries, upon which the group discussion moderated by Dr. Bhaskaran was set in motion.
The event oversaw the coming together of 45 students from diverse institutions such as MIT, MIC, and KMC under a single roof, as a collective unit, with only innovation to guide them.
