Mangalore: Three die in accident at Udane

Mangalore, 18 January 2011: Three persons, including two women, were killed in a road accident at Udane, in Puttur traffic police station limits, on National Highway No. 48 on Tuesday. Nine persons, including six women, were injured in the accident.
The police said the victims were from Chengadi Halli in Sakaleshpur taluk, Hassan district.
Their names were given as Mahendra (50), his wife Sarvamangala (45), and relative Dakshayini (50).
A tipper hit the jeep by which they were travelling from Dharmasthala to Sakaleshpur at about 3 p.m. The tipper was plying from Gundya to Nelyadi. The rear of tipper hit the jeep, the police said.
The names of the injured were given as Mahadevamma (70); Sudha (24); Nagesh (22); Lokesh (30); Rekha (57); Rajani (23); Lokeshwari (two); Ranjitha (20); and Jeevan (25).
Puttur Traffic Police have registered a case.
