Moodubelle, 1 January 2011: The parishioners of Belle bid adieu to the old year 2010 and welcomed New Year-2011 with Holy Hour and Thanksgiving Mass from 10.30 pm on 31st December 2010 to 1 am on 1st January 2011. The Holy Hour from 10.30 to 11.30 pm was conducted by Br. Mahesh D’Souza in a meaningful manner thanking God for all the good things that He had showered on the people of the parish including the opportunity provided for them to celebrate the Centenary of the foundation of the parish.
The mid-night Mass was concelebrated by the guest and in-house priests, Fr. Naresh Lobo belonging to the Lucknow Diocese in Uttar Pradesh as the chief celebrant. Homily was delivered by Fr. Charles Menezes, a native of Belle and presently National Director of YCS/YSM, stationed at Chennai. Giving an example from Blessed Mother Teresa’s life, Fr. Charles explained what we had given to God in return for the good things that He had done to us? January 1st being the feast of ‘Mary Mother of God’, Fr. Charles examined the significance of this title of Mother Mary and pointed out that, Mary is our mother as well. He also explained the meaning of the theme of the day, “God among us with His love”.
At the end of the Mass, Fr. Joswey Fernandes, parish priest of Belle on behalf of himself and all the priests wished each and every parishioner a happy and joyful New Year-2011. As the people came out of the church, they were offered sweets. It was a common sight of relatives, friends and acquaintances exchanging greetings of the New Year-2011. People were also treated to colourful fireworks that lighted the dark midnight sky.
As the new day of the New Year-2011 dawns, let us hope that the world will see a new era of peace and happiness. During the first half of the first week of 2011, Belle parishioners will be celebrating hundred years of the establishment of their parish. Let us pray and hope that all the programmes associated with these Centenary celebrations will achieve success.
Bellevision wishes all its readers, supporters, well-wishers and advertisers a Happy and Prosperous New Year-2011.
