  • Potatoes - 2
  • Onion - 2
  • Grated coconut - 1 cup
  • Green chilly - 3
  • Red chilly - 4
  • Garlic - 3 pods
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tea sp.
  • Black pepper powder - 1/2 tea sp.
  • Coriander leaves
  • Lime juice - 1 table sp.
  • Rice - 2 table sp.
  • cumin seeds - 1/2 tea sp.
  • Toast powder or fine semolina - 1 cup
  • Oil - 6 table sp.
  • Salt to taste


* Wash and soak rice for 1/2 hour.

* Boil potatoes with water and salt, peal, smash and keep it a side.

* Grind finely together cumin seeds, red chillies, garlic, rice, garam masala and pepper powder.

* Finely chop onions, green chillies and coriander leaves.

* To the smashed potatoes add ground masala, grated coconut, chopped onion, green chilly and coriander leaves, lemon juice, salt and mix by hand.

* Make small balls from this mixture and flatten them and roll in the semolina.

* Heat oil in a pan and fry these flattened balls both the sides.

* Serve hot with tomato sauce or chutney.
