New Delhi, 11 October 2010: The Governor of Karnataka, H R Bharadwaj, has written to the President to impose President’s rule in the state. He has also asked the Centre for necessary action in this regard, according to Times Now.

Today, the assembly witnessed chaotic, unruly scenes even as the BJP government went on to win the floor test and survived the no confidence motion.

The Governor had said that the government was in a win-win situation with outsiders inside the assembly and that the entire voting process was a farce.

Making a mockery of democracy, there was complete pandemonium as a voice vote that has already been charged with being tainted was won by the BJP government in its Southern Bastion. The Speaker intervened and disqualified the 11 rebel MLAs and 5 independents.

Hours ahead of the trust vote for beleaguered Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in the assembly, Speaker K G Bopaiah disqualified 16 rebel MLAs on Monday morning, including 11 even from the ruling BJP.

After intense drama and ugly scenes from inside the assembly, the BJP won the floor test but in the end, the entire episode has brought one question to the fore - does India deserve this? Does India deserve such politicians who bring shame to our democracy? Marshals being beaten up by rebel MLAs, drama outside and inside the assembly, outside the Governor’s residence.

BJP president Nitin Gadkari said, "Over the past few days the Congress and the JD(S) tried to destablize Karnataka’s BJP government by the use of money power. Many legislators were bought and put under pressure. The BJP government has won the trust vote despite all that."
