Mangalore: Congress dumps Pramod Muthalik’s supporter from party

 

Mangalore, 24 Mar 2014: If BJP backtracked on Sri Ram Sene leader Pramod Muthalik’s entry within five hours after the announcement, Congress in Dakshina Kannada district did a similar act against another Sene activist in Mangalore on Monday.

 

Sri Ram Sene leader Dinker Shetty, who spearheaded many activities under the guidance of Muthalik in Mangalore, was given entry into Congress party fold at its convention at Town Hall on Monday at around 12 noon. Shetty, who had defended and claimed responsibility for the infamous Mangalore pub attack incident, was given a warm welcome at Congress convention in the presence of Union minister for road transport and highways Oscar Fernandes, former Union minister and Lok Sabha election candidate B Janardhana Poojary, district incharge minister B Ramanath Rai, minister for urban development Vinay Kumar Sorake and other party leaders.

 

However, district Congress committee incharge president Ibrahim Kodijal issued notice denying membership to Shetty within seven hours after he was inducted into the party fold.

 

"It has been decided not to give membership to advocate Dinker Shetty, who joined the party during the Congress convention held at the Town Hall, in the wake of differences among the party leaders about giving him membership," Ibrahim stated in the notice.
