Udupi: GSB Mega Convention Inaugurated; GSB Community excels Worldwide – P D Shenoy

Udupi, 27 Jan 2014: Gowda Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community has made its name in India and overseas.  The community that is at the forefront in achievement has to united to contribute further for the community, said Dr P D Shenoy, retired secretary of union government.
 
 
Shenoy was speaking after inaugurating GSB mega social awareness convention at grounds in Nejar, near Kallianpur, here on Sunday January 26.  The convention was organized by Udupi district GSB Samaj Hitarakshana Vedike.

 

 
 
 
 
GSB contributions greater indeed
 
 
Saraswat community is intelligent, surging in different spheres, such as ICS, IAS, politics, banking, industries, religious, education etc.  Pai family of Manipal in Udupi has founded the bank that has become household name in India.  The community youth are opting for MBBS, engineering, chartered accountancy and banking.  He urged the youth to take earnest interest in pursing IAS, especially the woman has to take active role in social sphere, because Saraswat community has unique talents that got to be used to the fullest, urged Shenoy.
 
 
 
Community resourceful in surging; A G Pai
 
 
 
GSB community has the resources to surge in every sphere.  It has to change as per the global changes.  The community indeed greatly contributed in farming, industries and trades.  The women are empowered to take additional social responsibility.  There is the need to launch organizations to bring about social security and recognition.  The community has to strive with honesty, truthfulness, selflessly to achieve milestone, said Mangalroe-based JBF Petrochemicals CEO A G Pai.
 
 
 
Although GSB community is intelligent, educated………..
 
 
 
Kundapur-based Venkataramana Deva Education and Cultural Trust secretary K Radhakrishna Shenoy said that GSB community is intelligent and educated that has followed the traditional practices diligently. Meanwhile, the youngsters who pursue higher studies are faced with a dilemma to migrate to distant lands in search of better job prospects, leaving behind their elderly parents.  The need of the hour is to find better business avenues in their own natives, advised Radhakrishna. 
 
 
 
Pulkeri Panduranga Subraya and Pushpa Kamat couple, New Delhi-based Sri Hari Guru Seva Pratistan chairman Srinivas Prabhu, Chempi Ramachandra Anant Bhat were present on the occasion.
 
 
 
GSB Samaja Hitarakshana Vedike president G Satish Hegde Kota welcomed the gathering.  The convener R Vivekanand Shenoy Karkal delivered the introductory address.  The chief secretary Sanoor Narasimha Nayak compered the programme.  Kaup Harish Nayak and Kanjarakatte Deepak Kamat introduced the dignitaries.
 
 
 
GSB directory distributed
 
 
 
Kundapur-based Sri Venkataramana Deva Education and Cultural Trust secretary K Radhakrishna Shenoy symbolically distributed a copy of GSB directory by presenting the same to Kallianpur – Venkataramana temple managing trustee K Ananta Padmanabha R Kini.
 
 
 
Similarly, Pulkeri Panduranga Subraya Kamat symbolically distributed handbook on GSB culture and tradition ‘Ananta Souraba’ by presenting the same to Devdas on the same occasion.
 
 
 
1,500 GSB families overseas
 
 
 
Gujarat-based K V Virani Research Institute director Dr Ravindranat Shanbhag in his presidential address said that there are nearly 1,500 GSB families settled in USA, UK and Canada who have migrated during 1960.  Their extended families are finding it difficult to find proposals within the community; hence the need to find ways to resolve the issue, Sr Shanbagh expressed deep concern.
 
 
 
‘The need of the hour is to set up hostels for GSB boys and girls in Mangalore, Bangalore and other metros as the community youth are pursing engineering and other professional courses, besides counseling centers to resolve marital discord; since there lies the greater need to go as per the changed times, said Shanbagh.
