Mumbai: G S B Sabha Celebrates 79th Foundation Day

Mumbai, 23 August, 2013 : The metro based G S B Sabha celebrated their seventy-ninth Foundation Day at Little Angels’ School, Sion, here recently.

 

Jet Airways senior vice president U R Mallya and Rekha were the chief guests of the occasion.

 

 

A special guest present on the occasion was Gurpur Dattananda Bhat whose recent generous donation, in loving memory of his wife the late Shanta D Bhat has enabled the Sabha to start a medical welfare scheme for the senior citizens from the economically-weaker-sections of the community.

 

The programme began with invocations offered by the Mahila Shakha Bhajan group of the Sabha.

 

In the formal programme which followed the president Sudha G Pai welcomed the gathering and gave them an update of the various programmes and charitable initiatives fo the Sabha.

 

Sponsors of Sabha’s programmes were felicitated on this occasion.

 

Students from GSB community who had excelled in academic studies from SSC onwards were awarded silver medals and certificates, sponsored by Jayashree Ramesh Shenoy.  Cash prizes from various endowments received for this purpose were also awarded.

 

V R Shenoy memorial scholarship was awarded to the toppers of SSC and II HSC.

 

The promising talent award, sponsored by B T Mallya was awarded to the kids based on their drawing contributions to Voice of GSB, the quarterly newsletter of the Sabha: Purushottam Shenoy, Gargi Pai, Sneha Shenoy, Nitya Nayak, Omkar Hegde and Akansha Pai.

 

Anuradha Kamat and Ramesh Bhandarkar was felicitated as the winners of the senior citizen female and male health check-up cum contest conducted for the Sabha members, by the GSBS Medical Trust.

 

U R Mallya, in his speech praised the efforts of the Sabha in conducting several activities which addressed the needs of various sections of the community.  He also guided the students on achieving effectiveness in their professional and personal lives.

 

In the entertainment programme, sponsored by the late Varada Kamat, which followed, performances were put up by Anvita Kamat, Seema Shenoy, Archana Anup Hegdekar and Soumya Shenoy.

 

The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.

 

Refreshments were sponsored by Nagesh Rama Nayak’s Café Mysore.

 

Bina Shenoy introduced the guests.  S D Shenoy announced sponsor felicitations.  The education awards announcements were made by Laxmikant Prabhu and Mohini Hegde.  Vidhya Bhat announced the promising talent award winners.  Bharat Kini proposed vote of thanks. Uday Mallya compered the programme.  S C Pai, K R Bhakta, Dinesh Bhandarkar and Anantaray Nayak also helped in co-ordinating programme.
