Moodbidri: 22nd Alvas Virasat begins with much fanfare

Moodbidri, 25 Dec 2015: Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Padmavibhooshana D Veerendra Heggade inaugurated Alvas Virasat – 2015, 4-day 22nd national cultural extravaganza that was organized by Alvas Education Foundation® here on Thursday December 24 evening.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Heggade said that the universities worldwide need to research on Alvas Virasat that educates the children on Indian cultural splendor.  He also advised the students to utilize their prime youth on useful tasks than mere merry making.

 

Karnataka state youth services and fisheries minister K Abayachandra Jain presided the programme.

 

 

Hemavati V Heggade, former Karnataka minister K Amaranath Shetty, SCDCC Bank chairman M N Rajendra Kumar, Kannada and culture department director K A Dayanand, Canara Bank managing director and CEO Rakesh Sharma, Karnataka Bank managing director and CEO P Jayaram Bhat, Hotel Peninsula Mumbai and UAE managing director Karunakar R Shetty, Adani Group managing director Rajesh, UPCL CEO Kishore Alva, Suresh Bhandary Mumbai, Hotel Gold Finch managing director Prakash Shetty, Dhanalaxmi Cashew Exports managing director K Sripati Bhat, Jayasri Amaranath Shetty, Mohan Alva’s family members Meenakshi, Jayakar Alva, Balakrishna Shetty, Amita Shetty, Ramachandra Shetty, Urmila Shetty and others were present at the dais.

 

Alvas Education Foundation® chairman Dr M Mohan Alva welcomed the gathering.  The lecturer Venugopal Shetty compered the programme.

 

22nd Alvas Virasat Award ceremony

Karnataka’s senior classical music maestro R K Padmanabha presented Alvas Virasat Award 0 2015 to Padmasri and Padmabhushan S P Balasubramaniam, the renowned multitalented singers nd music director.  The Award comprises Rs 1 lac cash, memento and public honor.

 

Balasubramaniam after the honor said that he wish to be born in Karnataka if there is rebirth, because he had not been felicitated in that manner so far in his life.  He thanked his mother and all the elders who blessed him throughout his life.

 

Yakshagana music was presented by Satyanarayana Puninchittaya and group, Alvas students presented Yakshagana play, besides Manipuri and Sri Lankan cultural shows were held on the occasion.

 

Balasubramaniam and his music group from Bengaluru presented a live musical concert that transpired the audience to fantasy world.

 

Variety cultural shows including fusion music was staged by the musicians from Mysore and Pune.

 

Over 35,000 audience seated in different galleries were enthralled by the cultural extravaganzas set in a pristine surrounding.

 

Earlier, the dignitaries were accorded traditional welcome in a procession to the venue.
